yup. Tree of Fortitude and the Foster Wild Thai were two recent ones I had that were amazing. Id put those up there with most of Side Project and Anchorages beer which cost 2-3x as much.
I don’t remember, but I think they could come with a better food plan. Their physical a paces are so awesome, and it wouldn’t be so difficult to add a real kitchen. I know they are being purists for now, but long term,I bet (and they should) add a reasonable food option.$Alchemist for a long time was just the beer, but eventually they added food; I bet Treehouse, with the capital spend on their huge facilities will be forced to.
I don’t understand the beer. They already have ‘Moment of Patience’ which is the exact same thing. Unless they decided to rename it
Sucks because due to the unique barrels they used, they can never brew the beer again. I don’t mind the price tag when it’s something totally unique and tastes just as good
Huh I never heard of that beer. But it has the exact same description. Wonder if they mislabeled it as Moment of Clarity? Or perhaps they're just not going to get cute with the beer names anymore and just go with "Barrel Aged" ________.
So got to try the Brewers TIPA’s. First, Treehouse triple IPA’s might just not be for me. Found them all to have some booze notes and are certainly chewy and sweet. But I found what I perceived to be some off flavors and ripping bitterness as well. To me, some Treehouse IPA’s end up having this similar flavor of bitter and too much hop saturation. So much that it’s almost like my brain cannot discern the fruit and hop imparted flavors each one presents. And it just goes to this bitter chemical flavor. It’s not horrid, but it’s literally non descriptive. Looking at your batch 9,000, hello 2025, a “welcome” or two, etc. I felt a few of these went there. Specifically #3 and to an extent #1. #4 I swear to god has a slightly sour or acrid flavor. Almost as if a little Bret got in there. Or it’s like absurdly overripe fruit that’s borderline fermenting. Given the smell and the taste it immediately pointed to, in my opinion, the off fruit flavor I get in almost ALL beers from Foam. Where they all have this tangy, almost sour smell and flavor. As stated a few posts above. #2 is hands down the winner. Very balanced with a nice nuanced flavor. I assume this might be Nate’s given the basic description he leaked in the video. I assume #4 is suffering from some form of issue with an experimental yeast strain and it was known when they brewed. Then deciding they wanted to try its unique esters and flavor profile with fans. I can’t knock them for that. I appreciate the concept and set. But I think TIPA is just too much for most people. And anyone on the periphery of craft beer is probably going to short circuit trying to figure these out. Fun to try, but glad it was from Gift card money. Ultimate Julius also was just too much for me. That is an absolutely gigantic beer. Absurdly hoppy, sweet and intense.
I bought it in October. Was too sweet for me. MoC is superior, which is strange since I’ll go with a BA stout 9/10 times over a standard stout. I also got it for batch 1, which I (seriously) thought was better. Seems like a re-brand but only Nate and crew know
My palate has never evolved to a point where most BA stouts don't taste exactly the same. I've always thought the bourbon (or whatever barrels are used) just completely overpowers everything. There are exceptions, of course. But I don’t drink bourbon or whiskey or wine or anything hard liquor. Anyway, I pass on most Tree House stouts as they're just far too sweet for me these days. I can enjoy 4 ounces maybe then I tap out.
I'm kind of hoping they don't go that way at Charlton at least. I like the rotating food trucks they have there. A bit pricey, but most do very good food. I'd hate to see them be pushed out. At the other locations they seem to be leaning into their pizza service. I would like to try the lobster rolls at Sandwich at some point...
I had a bunch of TH stouts and they were all quite sweet. I wish they would do some plain imperial stouts, and some plain BA
Rotating food trucks are a good, fun option. And at Charlton, I bet they can attract a nulber good rotating options. Does this happen in the winter? And during the week? When I was in Saratoga last Friday near noon, it was almost deserted meaning it would be hard to attract food trucks. Food trucks seem like a summer thing?
Just had this ‘quadruple’ (10.7%) IPA from TH. I can agree with the statement that it is overwhelming
I’ll just never buy a TIPA, let alone a “quadruple”. After the 3rd one I tried and hated, I just won’t do it again under any circumstances
