This thread starts with the premise that Tree House and Trillium are producing some of the best IPAs in Massachusetts. The style or sub-category shall remained unnamed; by at least me, to avoid that overwrought thread... What I am curious to know from my fellow Beer Advocates is this: Do you find yourself comparing IPAs-For example, when you drink a DDH Scaled by Trillium, do you think this is like _____ from Tree House. Inevitably this could decent into "this is better than that", but there are only so many way to make a non adjunct IPA, and I am more curious to know how you compare the two outstanding breweries' options.

Both are just fantastic and I consider myself to be very lucky to be reasonably close to both of them. In VERY broad terms, Tree House brews tend to be softer and juicier to me with almost no bitterness on the back end. You also get that bubblegummy yeasty thing. Trillium offers great juiciness up front, but usually with an earthiness underneath and a little more bite on the finish. Both breweries kill it with the aromatics and appearance. Again, this is very general. I simply love both and, depending on my mood, may choose one over the other.

I don't really find that Tree House and Trillium taste alike. If anything, Green and Congress St would probably be the closest imo.

I generally just enjoy my beers for what they are and don't try to figure out if one is better than another.

Mastermind is still my favorite, but I don't drink a Julius and think "that might be better."

Maybe if I had them side by side I would, but I haven't been that lucky
