Rang in the new year with quite a few TH brews to set the mood for 2022. Can't wait to see what else they do this year

Had a stout tasting night after new year’s day. GF’s dad brought out a ton of couple month old non-ba bottles. Memphis Flash was one of my favorites which is still up right now. Ton of sweet banana goodness.

Otherwise, Im hopefully looking forward to picking up Jjjuice Machine & Vanilla Bean Nascent Truth. With the good graces of my gf as we really wanted to slow down on beer drinking this year.

I've been plowing through a mixed case since mid-Dec. One thing I've noticed - most of their IPAs seem to be optimal (at least to me) at 4-5 weeks. King JJJuliusss went from very good at 1 week to mindblowing at 4. Same with JJJuicee Project and Project Find the Limit 5.

Just wondering if anyone else feels the same.

Sorry if this has been asked on previous threads, but... anyone have any favorite mountains nearby-ish (1.5-2 hrs?) to combine a Tree House trip with a skiing day trip? How is Jiminy Peak? Or do I have to go all the way up to Stratton? Would be coming from Philly, and wondering if this is plausible/ideal. I feel like Deerfield would be the stop, right?

Yeah, if you are looking to incorporate skiing with a trip to Tree House you're going to want to go to Deerfield. The closest mountain that is worthwhile to Deerfield is Mt Snow in my opinion. Its about an hour away. Full disclosure I have never been to Jiminy but it's about equidistant to Mt Snow.

Thanks! Hadn't heard of Mt Snow so I'll check it out. Wondering whether I can find something a little farther south... as with that driving time it's probably best to just make it an overnight trip and hit up something bigger in Vermont.

Memphis Flash is actually a blend of BA stout and fresh stout. Looking forward to my bottle!

Mt Snow is the southern-most ski resort/mountain in VT that I am aware of.

had no idea, I’m guessing the others were similar then.

MF was great though, mostly got banana which was definitely emphasized by the vanilla. Decadence was a close favorite, like a nice rich chocolate snack with maple

Memphis Flash was great, had it tonight. I thought good banana beers couldn't be done, but they're 3 for 3 for me right now.

I’ve had three nascent truths (the last one is going to sit for a while), and also had bbt on New Years Eve. Totally different beers, although both na ba stouts. After having bbt, I’ve come to appreciate what nascent truth is, it retains a fresher stout beer, still soaked in bourbon and barrel. BBT is more matured, but I’m not so sure I liked it more.

Can’t wait to pop open vanilla bean nascent

If they start producing and barreling bourbon, I can’t imagine what they’ll be able to accomplish with their ba beer

Thanks. After a little more research, I'm thinking my best bet (in case anyone else coming from the south is looking to do something similar!) is to do Hunter Mountain (1.5hrs closer to me than Mt. Snow) which is 2.5hrs away from both Deerfield and Charlton.

Ahhhh! I hear ya. Hunter definitely a better option if you aren't dead set on driving to VT. Safe travels!

Ha, think there was a miscommunication (my fault) -- not at all set on VT, because if I'm driving that far I might as well make it into a 2-day trip (but would prefer something farther south that I can keep it to a single day). Thanks!

PA to Hunter to Tree House and back would be an absolutely miserable one day trip. Go to Mount Snow and stay a night. You can get cheap hotels in Brattleboro or stay closer to the mountain if you want to spend a bit more. You drive right by Tree House Deerfield if you're taking 91.

Tree House is more variety for the travel, but the best beer & ski trip in New England is always gonna be staying somewhere between Warren and Stowe to ski Sugarbush/Stowe and hit Alchemist and Lawson's imo. I have heard good things about Hunter though.

Did you have King Smooth? The banana was kind of underwhelming for me, although Sorbet King from the same release was fucking awesome. The guava was really pronounced.
