Tree House Brewing - August 2014

Anyone else getting an odd almost beachy smell from Curiosity Seven? Not sure if it's because I'm on the Cape near the water or what, but it is striking. Not at all matching the major fruity taste for me. Maybe that mismatch is what makes it ... curious?

 

I'm going to print this out and tape it to the barrel of Lucid with peaches.

 

Beachy smell eh? Like low tide beachy or Yankee Candle?

 

I suppose seaweed is the easiest thing to point to. I'm afraid to say low tide because that would seem too negative, but it's not completely off the mark. Maybe "south-side of Cape Cod boatyard"? Or perhaps "horseshoe crab that has seen better days"? Ok, not really, it's a subtle thing but there is something about the smell that is just odd to me.

This smell is more noticeable when I have just poured it and the head is full. Once the head dies down it disappears and the smell is more consistent with the taste.

And just to be clear I am loving this beer, but the smell is throwing me for a loop.

what's the chance of C7 lasting all day on Saturday?

 

Jay, thanks for the info and also for the directions when I got there today. Ice cream was good and an easy way to spen th half hour wait for fills tonight.
C7 is really nice. Not sure where the person got sea water though.
Looking forward to sharing some c7 and twss with people tomorrow

given how easy in and out tonight was...arrived at 6, bottles right up, out in 25 min, only 2 people behind us.....I'd guess C7 will last well into tomorrow.

C7 is delicious! Not getting any of the aforementioned shore flavors. Just fruity goodness.

had I known the big J would come on next, I mightve gone today. Oh well. Instead, I'm gonna just gonna relax with my C7. Might put some Anders Osborne on, turn up the outdoor speakers and drift out into a nap on the hammock.

And this batch of TWSS is damn fine too

 

It was only present in the smell, not the taste at all. I'm guessing it was probably just the way that unique Nelson aroma was melding with the other hops, possibly in addition to the fact that I was drinking it outside on the Cape not far from the water.

It was worth noting, but it's not like there was an obvious salty sea smell about in general.
