I am looking to head up from CT on a Saturday for some growler fills. I am a virgin to this so I am looking for some advice. I know they open at 11, but is this a place you have to get to early and wait in long lines? I'm all for waiting for it just trying to see what I am getting into. I made a fool of myself last week trying to get Be Hoppy or anything from Wormtown as every store was sold out except 1. Everywhere I went looked at me like I was crazy trying to get it at 4 pm. I was able to being one 1 bottle of Hopulence and it was tasty. Being from CT I didnt realize the following for their beer. Thanks for the help!
Why not read/post in the Treehouse thread that's currently two posts above yours instead of making your own? It probably has the answers you're looking for.
I think the recent general wisdom is that you can go later in the day saturday and have a fairly short wait for your beer. I don't think you need to be there at open; ... correct me if I'm wrong, folks, but since that one Thursday in early April (2 weeks after first batch from the new brewhouse was released) I do not believe there has been a day they have run out of beer. Wormtown is a different animal. The issue is not fans tracking the beer down at stores, it is the small amount of beer making it into retail receptacles. There's a Wormtown employee lurking around here, so he can step in if he wishes, but for whatever reason they have just not been canning that much Be Hoppy lately. A third party does their canning, but I am fairly certain I read that they have a bottling line at the new brewery - though it does not yet appear to be in use. Anyways, I highly recommend a visit to Worcester on any MA beer trip. You can get all the be hoppy 32oz-ers you can carry at the brewery along with some other goodies (Be Hoppier is on the "up next" board) and make a stop off at Armsby as well.
I think there were maybe 2 Saturdays early on at the new brewery where Tree House ran out of beer but that was ~3 months ago. If you are wanting to get there early, I'd shoot for around 10am. If you are able to go later, I'd shoot for around 2/3pm. The biggest risk you take going later is beers kicking. Usually Nate is really good at updating the website before each retail day to give a perspective on what beers are running low. Hope this helps! Happy to answer any other questions you have
if you happen to be looking for food after your trek -- BTs smokehouse in Sturbridge is an amazing and totally authentic BBQ spot. Total dive but amazing and pretty close to TH. Good luck!
A good place to drink your lights on cans while munching on two mini sandwiches and BBQ beans. I think we ate too much before our wedding yesterday!
Be Hoppy can be found on tap at several bars/pubs/restaurants throughout the state. I think it tastes better on tap than it does in a can, but that's just my opinion…either way it's excellent!! check out: https://www.beermenus.com
