$22.20 for 4-pack of an IIPA, they can't even eat the deposit to keep it even. No wonder OH is full of BoSox hats... All the Cambridge elites can't afford Boston. Please take back your bandwagon Red Sox fans take went to MIT & Havard who started following baseball in college when they went to their first ballgame at Fenway.

Interesting to see if this will carry over to any of their regular offerings. I doubt it, but we’ll see.
I heard JC get asked about the lack of head on trillium IPA’s a while back by John Holl on a podcast, and he got very defensive and basically brushed off the question. So they are definitely aware of the problem, but maybe the fix isn’t an easy one?

If anyone's interested to hear his response. It's Episode 58 of this podcast: https://www.stitcher.com/show/drink-beer-think-beer

Discussion happens around 40 min mark. Nice to hear that JC's not happy with their "foam" situation at the very least.

He also said Trillium's never made a maple beer because you can't get that flavor from maple syrup and Trillium doesn't want to use "natural flavors" in their beer.

Passing on this latest Trillium/Other Half collab. FYI - A few stores here in RI got big OH shipments, I'd rather have Other Half beers without Trillium's involvement and there's some really good stuff this time out.

The last quote about maple is a pretty ballsy claim considering the caliber of stouts brewed with maple coming from Hill Farmstead and Tree House; both are clearly not using "natural flavors".

I was thinking the same thing. I've had a lot of maple beers that claim to be brewed with syrup and don't mention natural flavors so either he saying those breweries are lying on their labels or he's wrong... With the quality of their beers lately, I'm inclined to believe the latter.

What are "natural flavors?" Does that include maple syrup? It's a strange statement, I'm trying to make sense of it.

I went to one of the Trillium Brewer's forums in Canton, or whatever they called it a few years ago, where JC talked about water, yeast, hops, and malt depending on which forum it was that day. He was asked about head retention and he said they were looking into what they could do to make it better. This was years ago. If it was really a focus, they would have found a solution by now, I would think.

Speaking of head retention, it was a big NOPE on the HDHC Hop Showers I had last night at the Fenway taproom. Along with an insane burn. Had a Hip Hop Reference Monkish collab just before that which is a triple IPA, but 10x more drinkable in comparison. It's like yay you pumped the beer full of alpha acids, but can you drink it?

Panicle Initiation was absolutely terrible - couldn't suck down more than half my pour at Canton Saturday. A lot of their beer has STUNK lately, but business has never been better based on the Canton crowds.

Do they even have incentive to correct their problems? I think the brand is carrying them right now, but I suppose at some point that itself won't be sustainable. Just to know the whole company is not complicit in this junk peddling, I would (sadly) love to see them announce and subsequently postpone or cancel a release as many other breweries publicize.

I would also love a JC comment here at some point. If he is actually happy with their current product, I'd really have to question the standards they hold themselves to.

Stilling cans are still tasting fantastic.

But agree, had both HDHC and beirpop and while ok, neither did it for us.

We both ended up ordering twice daily. That’s always fantastic

Yeah, I was a bit far reaching in my comments but agreed that some of the core beers are still solid.

I really dislike this constant newness that they pursue because I think that's really the source of a lot of their issues. I know that new stuff is an insane draw and revenue driver but wish they'd do less and get back to basics.

Also, with HDHC Hop Showers, Panicle, etc., I can't imagine that the collaboration breweries are pleased with what's going on - their name is on the product, too, at the end of the day.

Picked up all of the most recent collabs, but haven't gotten too far into them yet.

Started with Bake & Break, the collab with Brockton. Drank straight from the can after a hot day of yardwork and thought it was really nice. Felt like a hop charge straight to the nose before I could even finish cracking the can. Will try one in a glass to see if the usual head retention issues are still plaguing the majority of their offerings.
