What are the big differences with Heavy VS reg Mettle

I asked this today and Mettle has Citra while Heavy Mettle has Galaxy.

 

I think that is in regards to Mettle vs. Speed Mettle.

Heavy Mettle is a higher abv and drinks more like a triple IPA, to me.

FYI: 1/2 of Heavy Mettle bottles remain. On the last cases of CSIPA and Mettle. Bottling Galaxy FPPA this AM then regular FPPA early afternoon.

I find the taste of the two to be quite similar. I expected heavy mettle to be more of a hop explosion, but the raised abv. seems to balance the additional hops and the taste comes out very close. It would be fun to do a side by side.

 

Anything back on tap at R34 yet?

 

Was there Friday and nada^ Might be some time, losing tap handles is never a good thing ya know.

 

Nothing Sunday or yesterday. Still good stuff there though, obviously.

 

Any chance Heavy Mettle will last till Saturday, I was thinking of heading in today, but I want to try the double dry hopped melcher st and don't want to make two trips.

 

Only half the bottles were available at open today and with them open tomorrow and Friday it is doubtful

 

Mettle DIPA and Congress St bottles are SOLD OUT...but good amount of Heavy Mettle, Galaxy FPPA & Melcher St! Bottling regular FPPA now

 

Stopped in today at about 1:00. Long line for growlers and bottles but it moved quickly. Whch worked in my favor because Galaxy Fort Point just started pouring for growler fills when I was 5th in line. Picked up 2 64's of that and 4 more bottles, plus some Congress and Heavy Mettle. All in all 30 minutes for growler fills and bottles.

Place was bumping though, a lot of people walking out with cases. Good to see they are doing well, lov this spot! Happy New Years!

 

Stonington bottles gone. Galaxy growlers gone. Heavy Mettle growlers likely kicking tonight. I showed up around 3:20, only two people in line for growlers when I got there, in and out in less than 15, but there was a line out the door by the time I left. Picked up 2 64's of Heavy, 1 Sinister Kid, 1 Broken Angel, 1 Bottle of PM Dawn, 1 Bottle of Wild Sinister, and 1 Bottle of Melcher st because I haven't had it before.

 

This Galaxy FPPA is crazy good! Happy New Year's to me!

 

Congrats JC and crew! Now if only I can convince the fiancee that we need more beer in the house....

....will have to sneak in growlers and bottles soon.

 

Nothing beats picking up bottles of an epic IPA right as they're plucked from the bottling line. Talk about freshness.. "Oh your beer is only a week off the line? Mine is 8 minutes."

 

Nice to see they weren't enforcing the 64 oz. limit on Heavy Mettle. I think the same thing happened with Galaxy Fort Point (also posted 64 oz limit) as it was kicked for growlers by 12:30. Yes, I was next in line when it kicked and was pissed. But if you go through the trouble of posting limits, enforce them.
