sorry if this has been asked at nauseum, but would those in the know suggest a trip to one vs the other? I plan on going at opening on a Thursday and driving from there to Treehouse about 1 1/2 prior to TH's opening. Thanks for opinions!

Fort Point to Treehouse is a pretty straight shot on the Pike. Not sure where you are starting from.

I have only been to Canton, but I imagine parking is easier in Canton. The three times I have been there, I was able to park easily and get in and out in less than 10 minutes. I went most recently last Friday afternoon (4:30ish) and could have purchased as much as my wallet or wife would have allowed. A few of the stouts had smaller bottle limits (4 for night and day), but the rest had 12 bottle limits. I ended up getting two cases of mixed bottles.

Unless you're starting out much closer to Canton, the only reason to go there is if you're seriously allergic to parking in the city. Fort Point is a lovely part of the city right on the water and a fairly modest walk to downtown. The beer availability is usually the same at both locations. There's also a good bottle shop (Fort Point Market) right next to Trillium where you can find some of the other local favorites (Night Shift, Mystic, etc), and of course any number of good options for lunch/snacks/coffee/whatever.

Canton is an entirely generic office park. It is potentially a little easier to get in and out of, but other than that I don't think there's much to recommend it.

It sounds like traffic shouldn't be an issue at that time, so it might be a matter of deciding what you want to do between going at open and getting to TH. I'd echo @PierogiSmash's (great handle btw) suggestion that it's a straight shot from FP to TH. Do you want to have lunch at Row 34? Do you want to go stop at BT's for lunch? There's some time that's unaccounted for that I feel like makes a difference.

Also, if you want to sample stuff, that's only available in Canton. They only sample the lower abv stuff too, so I don't know how much of an advantage that is for Canton.

Parking near Fort Point midday can be a nightmare. Also you can get tastings at Canton. If I was driving and not in the city using public transportation I would always recommend Canton. Short, it's not as cool of a location, but the space itself is much nicer and larger and it's far easier to park and get in and out.

Old Bean is right- Canton is a pretty generic location- and local food options aren't great, unless you want to stop my mother in laws house, which is right down the road. I'm in with her pretty well, considering I have been visiting more often as of late....

These are great suggestions. Thanks everyone. I should have mentioned we will prob stay at the westin Boston waterfront. So I guess I would just walk to trillium fort point, pick up my bottles, go get lunch and a couple beers nearby and then pick up the car at westin and drive to TH? I like the idea of tastings at canton, but if only allowable for low abv stuff, that means the ipas are out? Seems less than worthy of a reason to go to canton vs fp.

Canton has samples and a much better parking situation. If you're staying in Boston I would go to FP like others have mentioned and hit the mass pike out to Treehouse.I would stop at BT's out there and then Uber to Row34 in the evening from your hotel.

BT's is a BBQ place in Sturbridge near Tree House. It is the best BBQ that I've had in New England, and I think that many here hold it in high regard as well. Another great part is that it's BYOB, so if you have cans from TH or if you stopped at Trillium first, you can crack a bottle and enjoy some beer with your BBQ.

Great suggestion, thanks! My next question was going to be if I get a growler fill at Trillium and want to drink it with lunch, where should I go. Sounds like BT is a great option. Anywhere near trillium fort point that I can take that growler fill in case I am starving and need to eat (and drink my fresh ipa) right away? thanks

Thank you! I will be making a roadtrip to Portland in July ...starting at TH and then to Trillium.

Yea if you are staying at the Westin just walk over to FP. I've tried to park near there at lunch on a weekday (I work out in the burbs) and it can be awful to try and find a spot. If you are staying right there and the only reason to go to Canton was samples I would pass.

Best bet is to find Trillium on tap. I don't know of any BYOB places in Boston but I think that is changing around the end of the year. There are some random places in the surrounding cities but BT's is awesome so it's worth waiting to eat there.

If you are in a rush for food, Flour or Bon Me is down the street in FP.
