Sounds expensive. Wish their beer wasn't so good

This is both really exciting, but also disappointing. Because I know there's NO WAY in hell I'm getting in there on the weekends. The lines at Nightshift are long on the weekends, and they're on Route 16 with a view of a peanut butter factory and in the distance, a Best Buy.

This will be an outdoor beer garden overlooking the harbor. Maybe try a random Tuesday?

Teddy peanut butter is legit. They should do tours and a collaboration.

More beer, more options...is disappointing? :slight_frown:

    Good for the beer scene
    I've wondered about that too.

One of the bartenders at Jack's Abby told me that they use Teddy for their PBJ Framinghammer. So I'm guessing that either Teddy doesn't like to advertise their beer collaborations (which seems possible given their rather syrupy family oriented ads) or that MasterRob is a diehard JIF afficianado and just can't bring himself to make a deal.

More on topic, while it may be busy, I'm glad to hear of Trillium opening up a spot if only because it would be nice to have more drinking/eating establishments along the greenway. Even if I can't get in, it would be cool to see more folks sitting and enjoying a drink/meal along such a scenic stretch of the city.

And I reserve the right to be less gracious about not being able to get in when it comes time for me to actually walk by

Agreed. Just adds to the vibe in the city. Boston has been too uptight for too long.

That plus the ridiculously awesome food truck/farmer's market setup in Dewey Square will be fantastic for summer afternoons and evenings.

Agree that it is great that Boston is finally moving beyond the cloud of the Menino era and opening things like this. Also agree this place will be packed with douchebags and I will probably never go even though I work up the street.

Maybe disappointing wasn't the right word. I'm still excited for it, and I'll definitely go and enjoy the hell out of it. But I'm being realistic. Virtually every tap room in the Somerville/Cambridge area has lines at peak times. There's no way this one won't be the worst.

It's like going to a strip club and not being able to touch the strippers. That being said...it's also going to be fucking awesome.

My office looks directly at the Greenway, so I'll provide realtime line updates.

This is at least the second brewery that's opened an off-site beer garden using one-day licenses (Somerville Brewing used them for their Assembly Sq location at first). I wonder if we'll see this strategy expand, and whether we'll see prime venues use rotating "residency" to provide 7-day service during the summer (since each licensee can only get 30 one-day licences per calendar year).

At least it will be a nice place to stand in line

While it may be inconvenient for suburbanites, it will be T accessible and also extremely convenient for the masses of millenials who work in the tech and finance cos downtown, and live in places like Allston/Brighton, the North End, and Southie, for whom it isn't a big deal to have a happy hour drink during the week. I have already been informed by my younger colleagues that it will be "lit" there.

I am curious what the capacity will be. This seems to have gone a bit viral already so I wonder if the Greenway folks would consider partnering with other brewers to add similar spaces at different points along the park.

I was told it would be 'fire', I'm not sure which one is better.

Damn, we have a lit fire and no one has started drinking on the greenway yet.

Back when I lived in Southie, this would have been amazing. Now, I'll try to get there at some point just to give it a try, but I can get a pretty great experience drinking fresh Trillium from Canton on my back deck.

Go at off peak times if you know this already? Boston has world class beer scene, just keeps getting better. Good problems to have. Most of my beer drinking takes place at home, sometimes at a bar. Rarely at a taproom. Most places can these days, and sell at packys.

Sort of on topic. The other thing they are selling is Westport Rivers wines. Way awesome. Just did a tour through there. 10 yr old Blanc de noirs, fabulous. American sparking wine, champagne style.

I just moved out of the city a couple of weeks ago and my wife recently stopped working right off the greenway and hey presto, a Trillium biergarten is announced.

Maybe if I leave the Commonwealth entirely Trillium will drastically reduce their prices and Tree House will begin distributing to numerous packies.
