Impressed with my first two samplings. Citra Singularity is a superb NEIPA and Giant Steps is just a notch below.
I've had the Citra Singularity, in fact it was straight off the tap at the brewery. Was just beautiful and changed my mind about IPA's. I recently tried Wide World and I liked what they were going for, but like you, just didn't hit like that Citra. I hope to track down the entire collection eventually.
Citra Singularity was a first pitch bomb to the upper deck, and Giant Steps a triple deep into the right field corner. While Wide World was a three pitch swing and miss and Cloud Architecture a weak come backer to the mound. After a torrid start, Light Visions 2.0 has cooled off and is hitting .500, respectable for the diamond, not so much where my wallet is concerned. As always YMMV.
Had my first taste of Garden of Fire today, and while I rarely opine after a single sample, the early returns suggest Light Visions 2.0 is once again trending upward.
Honestly I'm much more impressed with Trimtab's sours than I am with their NEIPAs. I wasn't a huge fan of Cloud Architecture or Giant Steps personally. They have a new one out called Theory of Abundance that is really good.
Second spin with Garden of Fire. It hit two highwater marks for DIPAs....the most interesting hop profile and the ugliest appearance. Otherwise, mostly unremarkable. Wouldn't decline if offered, and wouldn't seek out, if given the opportunity.
Never cared for anything at TrimTab. Good Fellas, Avondale, Back 40, and Cahaba yes, but not Trim Tab....Other than the awesome atmosphere. Really chill place. The bartenders were cool, but you could tell (at least I go that vibe) they could be judgy about your selections. Either way, I'd say staff 9, beer 3. Just my .02
