Hey guys, i am traveling this weekend from florida to santa fe area. I am not sure which way i will be traveling, but thinking of just staying NW of Dallas Saturday night, then driving onwards to Santa Fe on Sunday (I know its 10 hour days but I am used to driving). Anyhow, I will have all day Monday to hang out in the city and maybe even make a little trip to another town. Looking for any restaurants in the area i should hit up and any type of bottle shops that may have some stuff i cannot get in florida. if anyone wants me to bring anything out from CCB, just let me know and we can either do an IP trade or you can just pay me for whatever the cost is on the beer. Thanks for any responses and advice.
Santa Fe has a ton of great food options, so I'll try to throw out some recs based on cuisine: For New Mexican food: 1)El Parasol (takeout place with superb breakfast burritos and tacos, could be a good starting place for breakfast and/or lunch) 2) The Pantry- Get the carne adovada burrito 3) La Choza, Maria's or Tia Sophia's- Decent places. La Choza has La Cumbre and Santa Fe Brewing on tap, if I remember correctly. Bistro-style: 1) Elevation Bistro- Diverse menu of excellent food and cheap La Cumbre and Santa Fe Brewing Indian food: 1) Forget the name, but a great lunch buffet just south of St. Francis Drive on Cerrillos Road... Right next to auto zone. There are others, but I'll just get to the beer (some of the good places have food). 1) Duel Brewing- Best in Santa Fe and I feel eventually the best in the state. Belgian-style brews and a tasty reuben. 2) Santa Fe Brewing- A bit south of town, but worth going to either on a Wednesday of between 4-6 (I think those are the hours) when most beers are $2. Imperial Java Stout for $2 is worth the trip. 3) Second Street Brewery- The railyard location is cool, food is okay, and their bitter beers I'd highly recommend. 4) Marble Taproom- Just opened and not far from Second Street, so you can easily hit both. It is located next to O'Hori's and Talin Market. The beer here is excellent and I'd recommend this if you can't get to Albuquerque. 5) Draft Station- Expensive beers, but a nice view overlooking the plaza. Good selection includes Marble, La Cumbre, Blue Corn and Chama River (the latter two owned by the owner of Draft Station, who is a scumbag). 6) Blue Corn Cafe- I used to really enjoy the beers here, but their award-winning brewer moved to Bosque in ABQ and I haven't yet tried any of the new brewer's beers. Depending on time, make the drive to Albuquerque, it will be well worth it. You'll drive right by Bosque and can easily slide in for a beer, then drive 5 minutes to Il Vicino Canteen, then drive 15 seconds to La Cumbre. On your way back to Santa Fe you can stop at Nexus for food and beer. I'd love some CCB but will be leaving for NYC on Sunday evening and thus will probably miss you. If I'm incorrect about that, please PM me. I know my pal @miggs3030 would be happy to trade too though.
For an extra 70 miles, you can go through Austin instead and visit tons of awesome breweries and brewpubs. Just saying...
thanks for the tip. i actually may just do that and stay in Austin Saturday night and hit up Jester King if it is open on Sundays. Thanks for the advice
They're open Fri-Sun usually, but have extended hours for Memorial Day weekend. Hours and beer list are here. They're also releasing Encendia this weekend.
Jester King is open late, Noon to 10pm this Sunday, and are releasing Encendia this Friday as well, so it'd be a perfect time to visit. If you do swing through Austin and have Hunahpu to trade, I'd be up for a swap. I'd be interested in Marshall Zhukov too. Ya, roughly, but the trip from Florida to Santa Fe going through Austin instead of through Dallas is only about a 70 mile addition.
