I will be in Cleveland on the 2nd of Nov through the 6th, around the East end of the city taking a class at the ASM headquarters, any suggestions on places to hit that won't make it too long a drive, I will probably go to Great Lakes at least one of the nights I'm there, but anything on the East side worth looking at?

Skip Great Lakes and go to Fat Heads, it's just a it further from the east side depending on where you're at (I think ASM is out by Russel/Chagrin Falls).

Lizardville in Bedford is the best place on the East Side for bottle selection. Winking Lizard is right next door with more taps.

Willoughby is the closest brewery to where you'll be.

Would also drive to Cleveland Heights or Independence and go to MELT for grilled cheese and beer.

I second all of this ^

Great Lakes is pretty good I think, try and hit both Fat Heads and GL if you can. If you can only hit one then go with FH.

I love Great Lakes, especially the bar area. If you do go, also hit Tremont Tap House.

Bottlehouse brewery in Cleveland Heights, minutes from Melt.
You can hit W25th where Great Lakes is located and within walking distance also check out Market Garden brewery, Nano and Town Hall. A bit west (again, a few minutes drive) is Platform brewery, a relatively new brewery but with tasty brews each time I have gone.

Hey thanks fellow BAs this helps I don't know if my wife plans on going with me but if she does that could end up spoiling the whole thing, but oh well.

    Turn he
r on to craft beer. It only took me 5 years to get my wife into it, and she's more eager on some days to go pub crawling than I am.

I will never be able to turn her, she is a stubborn one when it comes to anything with the label of beer, I have had her try "unoffensive" flavors to her palate like NG belgian red, and even though she didn't hate and I'd bet liked it, she still wouldn't admit it, because it is beer. I have given up on her, it's a lost cause

Bottlehouse brewery also has some tasty meads that may appeal to your wife's tastes.
