My wife and I are taking an overnight trip to Columbus March 18/19th for my 40th birthday. We plan to check out HH, Wolf's Ridge, Seventh Sun, and Columbus. Any other good bottle shops, tap houses, food, etc....in the area that we should consider? Thanks in advance!

Columbus Brewing does not have a taproom yet and has zero affiliation with the existing restaurant, fyi.

Honestly these stores are all over Columbus. Sounds like the OP is mainly in the downtown and Italian Village area.

If OP wants to stay around that area I would recommend Barrel and Bottle for a bottle shop and the St.James tavern as a good beer bar

This is coming from someone who has visited recently, but I stumbled into the Hills Market on Grant street downtown and found that they had a pretty nice selection of beers, both local, regional, and national. They also did growler/howler fills which was nice. Grabbed some Seventh Sun Proliferous which was pretty solid and also tried the Columbus Bodhi which was good.

I also check out Elevator brewing and everything I had was good, but not really noteworthy. Although the restaurant served pretty good food and it was in a cool space.

I have to say that there are quite a few little bars/restaurants and every single one of them I've been in has had a decent beer list. It seems like they all will have something from Jackie O's or HH.

Thanks Tony. They do have your beers though? I was confused while looking at the website honestly.

There's a lot of confusion. Because they're not the brewery. They may have one or two beers on, but that's it. I cannot tell you what you should do, but......

Hate to hijack a thread, but I will be heading to Columbus in a couple weeks for a business trip. It's downtown at the Westin and I will be coming in off 70 from Dayton. Any idea on a quick bottle stop shop to pick up some fresh Columbus IPA and maybe a few other goodies?

If you're looking for a nice meal, the Wolf's Ridge restaurant is fantastic as long as you don't mind spending some money. It's pricey, but totally worth it.

Wolf Ridge is amazing. The taproom has a cheaper bar menu and the plates are fantastic.

I work around the corner from there and love stumbling across the 2-3 day old Bodhi. For the person visiting, if you hit Hills and you are looking at hoppy beers, check those bottle dates. I've stumbled across some really old offerings. That being said, very good place to hit up. Also, the Grandview Market District/Giant Eagle has a very large section and they keep limited releases behind the counter. As others have mentioned, Weilands, Palmers, and also around that area is Savor Growl.

Hi guys - I'm heading to Columbus tomorrow with family (2 young kids). I used to live there, but way before the current craft beer scene developed.

This thread has been helpful, but two questions:
    1) Any recommendations on Dublin area bottle shops? We're staying around there Friday night.
    2) Does Hoof Hearted or Wolf's Ridge always have to go bottles/cans, or just at certain times? I can't tell from their websites what they have at the moment. I'm gonna be around downtown Friday at lunch time (can't eat at either place - already have lunch plans at Planks on Parsons for old time sake) and was thinking about running into one or the other. Don't want to use up equity with the wife if neither has something worth picking up.

Hope you found what you wanted. I believe both always have something to go available. Hoof may be less consistent due to the demand of their releases. Wolf's Ridge always has six packs of the flagship beers and typically a few options in large format bottles as well which rotate.

Thanks. I went to Wolf's Ridge and got a sherry dire wolf and a sixer of clear sky daybreak. Good stuff!

This reminds me, do you post on your website or anywhere what bottles you do have for sale to go at the taproom?

At the moment I believe not but will inquire about possibly adding this feature in the future.

Other than 12oz offerings right now we have bottles of Gold Standard, Sustinator, and Hefeweizen.

Weiland's and Crafted Drafts would be your best bets. The Andersons are decent too, but are closing, so I don't know how their stock looks.
