Trip to Florida.... What to pick up?

    I'm traveling to Florida next week from Louisiana where our craft selection is pathetic to say the least. I plan on stopping at chan's wine world which, from what I understand, has the best selection where we will be(sandestin). As a bday present from the wife is have $200 to spend. I mostly like porters and stouts but am open to anything. So given my situation and knowing what is distributed in Florida, what do ya'll suggest I spend it on?

    If you can't find any TW,try an ABC store,some of them have some decent craft beer selections.

    Yeah, the part of Florida you go to will depend on what's available. Some breweries are distributed in some parts of the state but not others. Ballast Point for example is NOT in South Florida, Orlando and some northern and panhandle areas and Green Flash is only in the Tampa area.

    I was just in PCBeach and Chan's wine world had DFH WWStout and Fort, Bell's Two Hearted, Lost Coast brews, and quite a few others. They have a location in Destin if I recall correctly. Good luck.

    Any Cigar City will be good. Also Terrapin is putting out some really good stuff right now. Oskar Blues doesn't do anything wrong too. Also you can never go wrong with Dogfish Head, Rogue, Stone, Victory and Saint Somewhere.

    Let me know where in Florida you are visiting. I might be able to meet up with you and give you some good brews.

    Thanks for the replies. I'll be in the miramar beach/sandestin area. I'd love to get into the trading game, the problem is that it seems like everything decent we have here is widely distributed and readily available everywhere. Not a lot of trade fodder around these parts.

    What's some good stuff to get if I've tried a lot of Cigar City stuff already? I'll be back in FL in a month and want to get some White Oak IPA if I can find it but want to get 4-packs and 6-packs and not a lot of 750 mls so I want to try some different breweries. Anything great that I can't get in GA or TN?

    I already had Sculpin last time.

    Last time I saw White Oak Jai Alai it was at the brewery. Anything from Terrapin is fantastic. Try some Monk in the Trunk, Swamp Ape, Cocoa Beach brews are pretty good too. Where in Florida are you visiting?

    Holy crap, im in heaven. Just hit 5 shops and got a bunch of good stuff including 2) 4 packs of ten fidy and 2 growlers of southern tier creme brulee. Pictues and more purchases tp follow soon.
