Heading to Ireland in May, was wondering what bars, restaurant or brews to try? Will be staying in Dublin for three nights, Galloway for two night and Kilkarney for two nights. Thanks for any info

    Hi Laxer8811.

Beoir.org is an organisation that promotes craft beer in Ireland. Their directory is quite useful:

I would like to comment more on my personal experience and preferences here in Dublin but it's very late here and I must get some sleep. Thankfully philgill provided a great summary in this previous thead which I think is spot on:

Hope you enjoy your time here!

Bull and castle and porterhouse are the places to go in Dublin. The majority of the places have bud, coors, miller, bulmers cider, and carlsburg. Have fun though. I will be going back in Sept.

The Porterhouse in Temple Bar in Dublin is my rather obvious tip and Wrasslers XXXX is an unmissable pint.

Everyone's mentioning all the Dublin spots, but since you're in Galway as well, find some Galway Hooker! Not very remarkable, but it's a nice pale ale, which is very welcoming once you've had nothing but Guinness and Smithwick's. I found it at a place called Mossimo, and the off-license (or 'offy' as you may hear) on the same block carries it in bottles.

If you go visit the Cliffs of Moher, stop in the Roadside Tavern in Lindoosvarna. Small, quaint, cozy place. Have a Burren Black, which is a dry Irish stout; the best one I had in Ireland.

If you go to Against the Grain in Dublin, you might be able to have a Brewdog Sink the Bismarck (they had a couple on hand when I was there in February) ... if you want to shell out €80.

    Great stuff at the Burren

Went here in January and have reviewed both the venue and the beers

I'd estimate a 75/80 minute drive from Galway

Worth it for the views and the beer!

Cork is also a burgeoning hotspot for craft beers. The Shandon Stout in the Franciscan Well brews the equal of any in the countryside. A dry hopped Howling Gale Ale on cask is also a fantastic treat if you come across it anywhere

The Salthouse is the big craft beer spot in Galway: http://www.winefoodbeer.com/Salt-House.aspx

Same owners have other locations in Galway, including a brewpub, and 3 pubs in Dublin. Their own beers are hit and miss but they stock as much Irish craft as anyone.
