I'm doing a family trip to Lake George, around July 28-August 2nd.

Where should I look for great bottle shops? Any good local brewery where you can bring your family and eat?

Btw, if anyone is interested in a IP Trade, I can bring some goodies from Dieu du Ciel! (including Soltice d'été Rasberry Berliner!!), Trou du Diable, Charlevoix, Mcauslan, Unibroue, etc!

    Thanks a million!

I guess the family will have to stop at Winoski on their way back!

Im the guy who's thread was quoted earlier. I am up here in Lk George now (heading home tomorrow) and Im sad to say it is a craft beer wasteland, lol. ADKs beers are widely available, but none are anything to write home about. Their IPA is definitely drinkable and I grabbed a growler for the room. There is a double stout available on tap at the brewery right now (may not be anymore when you get here) that was the best of their beers. Davidson Brothers Brewery is close by in Glens Falls as is Coopers Cave but neither have anything worth seeking out either IMO.

As far as bottle shops, there is Minogues in Queensbury about a 15 minute ride south on I-87 from Lk George Village. That is definitely your best bet as they have a pretty decent selection and very cheap Ommegang beers (in comparison to NYC and LI...$11 for a Hennepin 4pk compared to $16 by me in LI). If you do head over do not be fooled by the gas station at the corner of Aviation Road with a giant sign stating "Best beer selection in town!"...it is actually a Budweiser sign and their most exotic selection is Missippi Mud jugs  Good luck!

There is a decent beer store maybe 15 min. off the Northway aka I-87 exit 12 which is just south of Saratoga before Lake George. If you get off exit head west on rt.67 about 10.5 miles and you will come across Route 67 Cafe In Carlton they have about 180 craft beers to choose from. www.rt67cafe.com Good luck enjoy your vacation I think everybody has given you good advice not to much up in the Lake George area.

Thank you, really appreciate all the replies and advices! We aren't set yet on where we gonna stay, depends on the family activities we will do. Will definitely check this place.

I go up to Lake George four or five times a year (northern part of the lake near Ticonderoga - not the village) but everyone here has pretty much summed it up: there isn't much. That being said, I like Hannafords in Queensbury for basic beer as they have Smuttynose and Otter Creek which I really like and which were -- at least for a while -- difficult to find here in Long Island.

This joint is decent and usually has decent prices on a few growler choices. Just off exit 15 on the northway in saratoga springs (1/2 hour or so before lake george). Brewery across the street too that does some contract stuff, but have not been up in a while, so not sure what is currently going on.
