Haven't been in a couple of years and will hit up New Glarus on the way in and Tyranena on the way out. But looking for some advice for in the city. It's a family trip and will have one family dinner at the Great Dane - one of my favorites in the city. But looking for a couple of other stops for just the guys to hang out. What would be your two best recommendations - brewery or pub. Also could travel with some MI/IN goodies if anyone would be interested in a trade. Thanks for your help

My favorites in Madison are Madison's, Merchant and Brickhouse.

Not sure I've been there when no one was smoking and its fine they also have outdoor seating. I would at least check it out its really close to the great dane and you can basically walk from one into the other.

I can imagine however with enough people smoking inside it might be off putting for you.

Karben4! Went there for the first time when I was up for the the Great Taste of the Midwest. Ryan and company are kicking out some stellar brews. Chill hangout place as well.

I hated Maduro. Big cloud of smoke as soon as i walked in and came out smelling like an ash tray.

Tipsy Cow during non-peak hours (anything outside of 6pm-close on Friday/Saturday). They had Karben4 Oaktoberfest & Pt5th on tap as of Monday.

And Dexter's. IMO, these are the best 2 bars in Madison for domestic craft beers. Incedentally, both have really good food too.

Karben4 on the east side! I HIGHLY recommend the Oaktober and Fantasy Factory. Ale Asylum's new place is a nice place to visit as well.

    Roast Public House - http://roastpublichouse.com/

Annoying Fratboy vibe and I've heard the food is nothing special but last weekend they had KBS and BCBS Coffee on tap.

I'll be staying in Madison on Thursday night en route to Darkness Day. It looks like Brickhouse BBQ, Dexters and Coopers Tavern all have Pseudo Sue on draft. For those of you who frequent these bars regularly, is Sue usually on tap at these places or any other bars that I didn't mention? Thanks for your help.

Sue is definitely on tap at all three of those places with regularity, Dexters is my favorite place to grab a pint. Only been to Brickhouse once and it was dead.

Brasserie V has Sue, but not sure how long it'll last since it seems like it was all anyone was drinking over the weekend. You can check the website before you go, it's usually updated pretty often. Pretty solid tap list right now in my humble and slightly biased opinion.

I'm doing the same thing. Doing the Lakefront tour at 3, then Tyranena, then Madison.
