I will be visiting Miami for a week in June. Can anyone recommend a good bar/brewery to visit. I'm planning on visiting cigar city in Tampa should anything near that would be great. Also can anyone recommend a good bottle shop in Miami and tampa to pick up some local brews. Thanks!
Are traveling to both Miami AND Tampa? I'm a little confused. There's a lof of info here on the stuff to do around Central Florida. There's been no shortage of even more specific threads on things to do/places to go in Tampa/St Pete that appear on the first or second pages of this South-Atlantic forum. I don't live in South Florida so I don't pay as much attention but I'm betting there have been recent strings on Miami as well. Good luck!
I'm going to Miami for a business trip. i'm thinking of renting a car and visit Tampa afterwards. I will check that those threads out. Thanks
Gotcha; come on up! (Not beer-related but you could probably stir the pot pretty well by asking which is the best way to drive between MIA and TPA!)
Oh, boy; it was a joke! I did not wanna open THAT can of worms ... Note to self: Don't forget to use emoticons.
I skimmed through the forum and it seems the craft beer scene/selection is pretty slim in Miami. Mike to visit Wakefield and maybe a couple recommended bar. Thanks everyone for your recommendation
This statement couldn't be further from the truth. Craft beer is on fire in Miami. In addition to JWB great options include: Breweries: -Wynwood Brewing Co (Gold Medal for their Pops Porter at GABF last year) -M.I.A. Brewing -Abbey Brewing Company -Biscayne Bay Brewing Co Great craft beer bars that have impressive offerings from Miami, other south FL and Florida breweries: -Kush (and incredible food)-my go to when I'm in Miami -Boxelder Craft Beer Market (BXLDR) taproom and bottle sales to go -Lokal-also really, really great food. Ask for their secret craft beer menu. Rare beer bottle offerings but $$$$ -And many more I'm sure the guys down in Miami could add. I hope this helps. Have a great time in Miami!! Cheers!!!
The abbey isn't a brewery. There's also the titanic which is Miami's oldest brewery but the beers are kinda hit or miss. The food is good and the prices are reasonable
I know it's a little North but no one else has mentioned it so I will. Funky Buddha should be on your list
Not sure if it matters or if you care, but Tampa and Miami are like 4-4.5 hours apart from each other FYI.
I heartily second @TheSamKuehn on Wynwood. Fell in love with their stuff at GABF last year and they were killing it at the Florida Brewers Guild fest here in March. So, I can vouch for them in addition to J Wakefield. And some of the folks from LoKal have made the trek up to Tampa and they were all super-cool so I'm guessing it's a good place to hang.
