I hate to stir the pot more, but I am too curious: what did MBrausen and JohnBierman did to get banned from the Firkins?

This was purely a play on words.

Disclaimer: I do not consider Summit to be any less healing than any others. Having been born and raised in Saint Paul, I must say I am partial to Summit brews as session beers and the unchained series always makes multiple appearances in my fridge (with the exception of the Saison, I just didn't like that one).

    LOL

Yeah, he gives away the fact that he hasn't been to the new store if he describes it as having "smaller area"... the new store is nice and big.

I am curious to see what Mr Alvey says about this.

As far as I knew, Jason and I were friends and we enjoyed a few beers together. I had a bad experience with Fulton beers when I worked on the retail level. I had a cask explode at the bar at Stub and Herb's. I also served product from that brewery which was of inconsistent quality when they first started operating. I was a bit younger at the time and did not understand that a new brewery would have issues with sanitation/fermentation until they went through a few "growing pains" and refined some of their brewing processes. I posted on this forum that I was not going to be serving their beer at Stub and Herb's any longer. I also stated that I did not believe that they had any right to produce beers for sale (on the retail level) until they had experience working on the production brewery level in order to refine their skills. Obviously, I was wrong. Fulton is a consistent brewery at this point.

    Long story short...
The Fulton guys and Jason went through BJCP classes together and have a good relationship. Jason was upset that I said bad things about his friends. I understand and wish that I could take back what I said (benefit of hindsight and all).

I had no idea that Jason was upset until quite some time after these things took place. In fact, I only heard about that he was upset from mutual friends who Jason speaks to on occasion. Once I was informed, I called Alvey immediately. We had a nice conversation and I thought things were somewhat resolved. However, upon my being hired at Goose Island, my new boss called me to inform me that I was not allowed in the FF. Jason expressed his opinion to my boss that I was a bad hire and would not be good for the brand. He may have been right.

As it stands today, I have had many interactions with the boys at Fulton. I respect them and their brand. I want to believe we have put the past behind us. Maybe I am wrong.

I hope that she can say the same. My offer stands.

If people who contribute to this forum would like me to go away I will. I take time out of my day to contribute because I believe that this forum needs more brewery employees contributing. Not many of us do because we are met with animosity from time to time.

Thanks! I may not always be sunshine and roses...

But, I hope that I have a different perspective to contribute to most discussions.

I enjoy your posts. I may not agree with every point you make (just as I do not agree with every point made by any other user), but I feel that your input is generally insightful.

In addition, I am a firm believer that we are all entitled to our own opinion. If something is way out of line, the mods will take care of it. Cheers!

Your sorely mistaken sir. You might be thinking of my Brother by the same last name. I have been to your new store, last time I was there, I was sad you were out of Size 7, you got a re-supply in 30min after I left(saw it on FB).

Alvey, you do a great job of marketing yourself, and are do the craft beer community a HUGE service with your promoting of yourself and craft beer as whole. I have even enjoyed some special releases from your store. But I personally believe, although your store is very nice, that if I were in MN for one day, there are other stores that have a better selection/price.

I feel bad that my comment has run this thread completely off track. If anyone would like to discuss further, we could start a new thread or a conversation.

    Cheers!

@reyolb, you can check out "places" under the Reviews section on the non forum BA site. This will give you some good feedback w/o the Junior High bickering. There is some great places around the TC area and its all gonna come down to where your going to be, i.e st paul, mpls, or the burbs. Like me, I go to Heritage because its close and I love the people working there. But if I lived in mpls it would probably be somewhere else such as FF.

    Enjoy your time here!

Do not go to Surdyk's. I will never step foot in that store again. Enjoy your trip to MN and try some of our beer that does not get store distributed.

Holy hell this was dramatic...I was just going to suggest hitting up the tap rooms at Fulton or Harriet, maybe swinging by Lift Bridge on the way to Cassanova.

But damn, this was as entertaining as I could ask for from a BA forum! Who needs TV when you have this!

For the record, I enjoy JohnBierman's perspective as an industry professional and of course love Alvey and what they offer the beer lovers of our metro area. Gotta love that Craft Beer can bring out this kind of discourse over what I expected to be a simple question and answer thread!

    Cheers!

Lost faith in this store since I read about price gouging on specific brews like Darkness last fall..
