I'm thinking about a trip to NEBCO on Friday or Monday from the Boston area. I'd like to potentially get some bottles/cans of their stuff as well. Can anyone suggest a good store where I might be able to snag something? Also, are there any good brewpubs or restaurants you would suggest? *edit* Do they sell cans at the brewery?
They only sell growlers at the brewery (occasionally special releases in cans / bottles, but nothing upcoming), check facebook to get an idea of what they have on tap. Amity Wine about a quarter of a mile down the road from the brewery is your best bet for cans of stuff. Modern Pizza is a New Haven hallmark serving amazing pizza and they always have NEBCO beers on tap. Delaney's down the road has a great beer selection but the food isn't very good. Prime 16 downtown also has a really good beer selection, and the food is good. Mikro is out in Hamden with really good beer selection and really good food. Take your pick (I'd go to Modern if you've never had New Haven pizza).
Just piggybacking off what DrWangerBanger said... Amity has been keeping their beermenus page updated pretty well I think, so you can check that to get an idea of what they have. http://www.beermenus.com/places/5383-amity-wine-and-spirits Other stores on your drive down (all off of Rt 15) include Wallingford Wine and Spirits, Sav Rite in North Haven, Bev Max Liquor Land in Hamden. Sometimes you can find stuff at these places if/when Amity runs out. Mikro and Prime 16 keep their tap lists updated also. http://mikrobeerbar.com/our-beers/ http://prime16.com/draft/
This is awesome news. I was planning a day trip to New Haven to visit NEBCO and hit up a few pizza places, and I couldn't decide how to rank the pizza shops. Apparently Modern is a must, then maybe Pepe's and Sally's?
Some of the New Haven pizza debate is in this recent thread http://beeradvocate.com/community/threads/new-haven-folks-restaurant-recommendations.96156/
I think I'm going to head down tomorrow. I'm going to be in Foxboro for the first Patriots practice, so might as well keep heading south. Also, I've never had anything by Capt Lawrence and noticed Amity carries quite a bit by them. Any suggestions on bottles to pick up?
I'm a big Capt can and just tried sun block last night, fantastic also don't miss their imp ipa. Should be available around nebco neighborhood. I will be at nebco this afternoon for my first visit as well. Ghandi and Galaxy are on tap today. I hope to be there around 3ish. Maybe see ya there.
Anything right off rte 84 for stores that have a nebco selection today? Heading to fishkill ny now. Looking for store on way to pop into . Any help, thanks in advance!!!
No idea what might in stock since I haven't stopped into any of these recently, but here are a few stores to call/try. Maybe others can be more helpful. Worldwide Wine & Spirits in Southington Fairgrounds or Stew Leonards Wine in Danbury
I've been calling around to find some Gandhi bot and only found one place that sold out yesterday. I didn't realize how rare that is. I went on a trip to Boston and stopped off to get some sea hag in December. I saw some Gandhi bot on the shelf and never heard of it so I grabbed 2 cases to bring back to NY. I thought it was easy to come by
I'll be in New Haven for work Monday afternoon. What liquor stores in New Haven have the best selection of NEBCO? Also, what beers are available at this time a year?
Went to Amity Wine and Spirits after going to the brewery today. They had Sea Hag, Elm City Pils, and 668.
