So I'm taking a trip to NJ next month and was wondering what I should bring with me and what people like more out there? Want to swing into a couple of bottle shops and maybe some local breweries/bars with some local stuff from out here. Do people look for Pliny or Alpine beers more? Trying to bring out a duffel bag full and need to know what to stuff it with?

People on East Coast would kill for either Pliny or Alpine.

I don't know about the demand for Pliny but I for one would go crazy for some alpine.

Where in Jersey are you heading too? If you're near Atlantic Highlands check out Carton Brewing (6E Washington Ave) or Ocean for Kane Brewing (1750 Bloomsbury Ave), you will not be dissappointed. Bottle shops check out Oak Tree Buy Rite in South Plainfield (902 Oaktree Ave, NJ 07080) Joe Canals: http://search.yahoo.com/r/_ylt=A0oG...ke/EXP=1369339412/**http://www.joecanals.com/

I'm sure others will chime in with more bottle shops

I'd avoid oak tree unless you want 12oz singles of local stuff. It's really not worth the trip.

As soon as a location is posted, we can really help out.

Kane Brewing is a can't-miss stop, no matter where in the state you're staying. As far as other breweries and bottle shops, that will totally depend on your location. If you're near NYC or Philly it would be worth a day trip to either just for the beer. And definitely leave the Pliny at home and bring as much Alpine as you can fit in a suitcase.

I would second bringing some Alpine with you.

What's with all the "leave the Pliny home and people are tired of Pliny"? Speak for yourself gentlemen.

Don't get me wrong, Pliny is certainly delicious. But unlike a couple years ago when Pliny was all the rage, today we can get IIPAs of equal or better quality right here at home. Alpine's offerings are a little more delicate, unique and special, so I'd definitely rather see an Alpine bottle make it out here than a Pliny. In fact, I'd also rather see Consecration than Pliny, but that's another story...

I am joking (sort of) as I love everything I have had from Alpine myself. And to all those Alpine lovers, you can order it online at http://beverages4lessinc.com/
Rarely see that site mentioned but they carry Russian River & Alpine so everyone can have a Hoppy Birthday if they so desire.

Do yourself a favor and stock up Flying Fish Exit 16, incredible DIPA. Best beer coming out of Jersey in my opinion (south Jersey at least)

But they sure will ship to my brother in VA!

Edit: None of the hoppy stuff in stock at the moment. Just mandarin, irish red, etc. I'll have to keep an eye on that site though for sure.

Maybe a few years ago when it first came out. It's still a good beer but anything Kane does blows it out of the water. And a lot of things Carton does.

I will be by the shore, don't remember exactly where, for the first 3 days then up in Cherry Hill for the remainder. Any info would be appreciated. I'm not big on Pliny myself. I love Knee Deep and Mother Earth beers currently but people here still go nuts for Pliny. I don't get the big hype around it but figured if that's what people out there talk about then I'll bring it. Lol. Like out here people go nits for Zombie Dust and Heady Topper, that though is justified imo.
