I am headed to Jersey side of NY to visit some friends for a few days June 28-July 2. Looking for some great beer bars. I am from the Chicagoland area. Some ideas that have already been passed on to me are: Blind Tiger Rattle N Hum Barcade (Jersey or Brooklyn), which one is better? Will be traveling mostly by train in NYC, but have access to a car if needed. Where should or must I go to make sure I hit the beer places in NYC? Thanks in advance for any advice.
You can take mass transit to the Jersey City Barcade. The parking around there is not very good. Hope you are going there with a friend. A lot of games from the 80's and 90's don't work well well with single player (see Simpson's, Gauntlet, etc). Never been to Brooklyn Barcade, so I can't speak for those. Good call on the Blind Tiger and Rattle n' Hum. On a nice day, there is a rooftop bar at Eataly. They brew on-site, but their offering is just okay.
okay that's up in Bergen County... will you only have access to public transportation? If so, I'd do Barcade JC... In NY I'd do Blind Tiger, Pony Bar, Gingerman in Manhattand and Brooklyn Brewery, Barcade BK and Spuyten in BK. If you have a car... I'd drive to Copper Mine in North Arlington, Andy's Corner in Bogota, Cloverleaf in Caldwell or The Shepherd and Knucklehead in North Haledon
If you have a car also go a few minutes north to shop at ramsey liquors in NJ and cable beverages and rt 59 discount beverages in NY. Different states so different beers and allendale is only about 10 minutes from the NY state border
