Hi all, I've got a trip to Orlando coming up in a few weeks (staying at the Double Tree downtown Orlando), and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on local brews? Anything that maybe doesn't have a large distribution foot print, or new/up and coming breweries? I guess I'll be on the lookout for Cigar City, but any other breweries/beers that would be a good grab? Is Jai Alai readily available, or tough to find in the area? (no snarky comments please....yes I'll try using Yelp & Beer Menus, but I'd rather go straight to the source....) Thanks!
Not trying to be snarky - but this is on the first page of threads: https://www.beeradvocate.com/commun...ando-look-here-first-fall-2016-update.443832/ Enjoy your trip!
Unfortunately, not too much great stuff in Orlando. But since you'll be staying downtown, you have a good bar in Tap and Grind nearby. As well as Ten10 Brewing which I really like. Pretty close to Ten10 is Gnarly Barleys bottle shop and bar that has only been open about a month or so that usually has a pretty good selection. Jai alai is definitely readily available. Anywhere from a gas station to grocery stores.
I'm headed to Orlando as well, coming from Philly. I'm not sure if you're looking for just packaged beers, or draft as well. I can only assume that you'll have a car... For bottled beers there's a Total Wine & More not too far away from your hotel at 2712 East Colonial Drive (Rt. 50), and ABC's are the other big ones to look for (further to the south there are at least 2). I've also done really well at some Whole Foods, but it really depends on the specific store. As far as brands go, Cigar City's Jai Alai is a regular and should be everywhere. I'd also look for Coppertail and Saint Somewhere. If you're looking for draft I'd try anything from Green Bench, Funky Buddah, or Angry Chair. For draft he Smiling Bison (not too far past the Total Wine) might offer the most promise for local beers with with stuff from Funky Buddha, Crooked Can, Green Bench, Central 28, Barrel of Monks, Jdubs, Tomoka Brewing, Coppertail, and Cigar City. I'll probably also stop in at Ocean Sun Brewing which is down by the ABC's I mentioned, although I can't recommend it as I've never been there. The Hammered Lamb might be the closest to you other than The Imperial which doesn't seem to offer much, and again, never been to either. Tap & Grind is also fairly close to you right down 4, and I'll probably hit that as well, but again, I've never been there although there are good reviews. I hope I've helped, and I hope others pitch in as well. - - - - Oh, and a note, yes, you can and should search for yourself first, but there are plenty of times when that just doesn't work that well and a quick, thoughtful note from other users can be incredibly helpful. What does another thread hurt, especially if it helps several members at the same time?
You're in a good area with the double tree, near an up and coming "beer centric" side of orlando. Thirsty Topher / GB Tasting Bar / Ten10 Brewery all are within a 3 minute uber ride in the Ivanhoe neighborhood. For Package GB has been getting some good stuff, Total Wine on Colonial is relatively close as well. Get some food at Pig Floyds / Black Rooster Taco / King Bao / Santiagos Bodega nearby.
It clutters up the forums with bullshit that's already been answered. Just imagine if every user posted the same thing instead of searching for threads that are already here. I can understand making a new one if you cant find the information you wanted in another thread.
Yep, you need to leave room for threads like this one with great shots of the lake: https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/me-vt-trip-highlights.457296/
I don't mind answering a question that has already been asked. I myself am not searching through hundreds of threads for something that may not be there. Is this post taking up too much room? Apologies.
