Peekskill has a new DIPA called Kneel Before Zod. Anyone try this yet? Looks like it just launched today. I am going on vacation out of country on Sunday, but may need to make a road trip tomorrow for a taste.

Well, looks like I may have to venture back up to Peekskill this weekend. Thanks for the heads-up.

had it on cask yesterday, really tasty. Mostly apollo with amarillo, cascade and an experimental hop. Said it will be on regular tap as soon as the cask kicks.

was at the brewery this weekend for the first time, very impressed. started with a flight of simple sour/aristocrats/NYPA/Eastern Standard... eastern standard was great, but i was in a sour mood. Holy crap, aristocrats is awesome, very excited to have this so close and be able to bring a growler home. Amazeballs was out when we arrived, but went back on mid-way through our visit, tried that as well and ended up grabbing a growler of it, but still not convinced as to how much better it is, if at all versus eastern standard. Overall, very cool spot. Oh, and if anyone is looking for something good to do outside and nearby, Blue Mountain Reservation is a super cool park, hiking trails that were beginner friendly along with what looked like some pretty fun mountain biking, and being only 1.5 miles from the brewery is nice too...

A friend and I will be up at Peekskill on Saturday around 2pm or so if anyone wants to drink some beer together.

If anyone happens to be passing through today, should be up there at about 1pm at second floor bar. Will be wearing a grey Pliny The Elder hat.

I hope the service at the second floor bar was better than the service at the ground floor bar. I finished my first beer, put the glass on the edge of the bar and had it taken away without being asked if I wanted another. Then I tried to make eye contact with one of the 4 people behind the bar with no luck. Ended up leaving instead of hailing a bartender who didn't seem interested anyway.

That sucks. Service on 2nd floor bar has always been stellar for me. Less crowded and Brandon is excellent. I am usually there early afternoon on Saturdays, maybe it gets a lot busier at other times.

I love Peekskill, but growler prices getting out of control. Higher Standard is now $28 for 64 oz. I suspect a 32 ouncer will be $16. Last year HS was $20, then I believe early this year it went to $26 which was a big leap.

If that is just for the fill there is no way I will be going back. I can got to HF and get a fill with a new growler for $25-$28.

yeah, those prices are absurd. barring maybe HF, no IPA is worth that much for 64oz if it's directly from the source. the profit on that must be ridiculous for them.

I'm happy with the equally excellent Kane Overhead for $16/64oz. now that's a proper price for a growler of a similarly great IPA with similar ABV. Peekskill needs a reality check if those prices are true.

Pricing needs adjustment. Two 32 ounce fills of Higher Standard are charged at $16 a growler, total of $32. A 64 ounce is $28. They are selling 64 ounces of same beer, it is just filled in two containers instead of one, price should be $28, not $32. This pricing is when you use your own growler.

Most Breweries and Growler fill stations charge a $1 or $2 more for 32 oz. fills (per oz.) than 64 oz fills since there is more waste involved in filling 2 small growlers than there is in 1 large one.
Sounds like Peekskill is overcharging for both IMO though. That's $7-$8 per pint. For growler fills directly from the brewery?
Is a pint of Higher Standard that much in a local bar or restaurant?

Agreed. I know hop prices have risen but damn that is a lot.

Agreed with @GoGators that most places I've seen have charged a little bit more per oz for 32oz growlers than 64.

Not sure that higher standard has made it to a restaurant but the price per pint of an equivalent quality / alcohol beer is about right for the area. That said, the growler price is not a good one. Gandhi Bot over in CT is more than $10 less per 64 for a better (or equivalent ... Not trying to start a debate) beer.

And the trend is not just for Higher Standard ... Not as pricey but similar trend line for Amazeballs.

$28 for a growler of any beer that didn't spend a long time in a barrel is insane no matter how you slice it. Their prices are laughable. If I didn't enjoy their beers so much I would have written Peekskill off a long time ago. Owners are completely clueless.

Went to Other Half today, their IPAs were $16 for 64, oz I filled three 32 ouncers. Price for 32 was 1/2 of $16, 8 bucks! I kind of understand (not really) a brewery charging a bit more for a 32 ounce fill, these guys didn't.

When Peekskill charges $32 for two 32 ounce fills and $28 for the same 64 ounces, an extra $4 is absurd. They spilled $4 worth of beer in filling the extra growler? I don't think so. It is a money grab.

Love their beer, people there are super nice but prices are nuts. I hope The Chief is getting a raise out of the increased prices.

Great to see some recent responses in this thread. Have been seeking to go here for quite awhile and finally found time this Saturday. My friend just moved up to Saugerties and plan on visiting him saturday night. Was planning on stopping at peekskill but no chance now with the prices I've been reading about. That is just ridiculous.

Prices are high, but if you have never been there, I recommend you go. Dont cut off your nose to spite your face. Higher Standard is on now and it is a fantastic beer. Not to mention the rest of the lineup which is very good too.
