Hey all, I'm taking my wife (5 mos pregnant, so beer is less important to her, but she'll still stop to fulfill my need, as long as the food is good) to Winsor VT for a weekend getaway in late June. We're looking for fun stops along the way, as well as places to eat while we're there. We have three options for getting there: 93 to 89 to 91, 93 to 202 through Goshen and Claremont, to 91, and 90 to 91/ 495 to 2 to 91. Any suggestions on route (she likes scenery, I like beer)? Basically we're looking for lunch stops/interesting (beer related!) stops along those routes... Thanks!
I'd take 202 to 12 to 5 and avoid the major highways. it is a nice drive the whole way up. Harpoon is in Windsor and Long Trail is not too far away in Bridgeport (Coolidge St park is right there also). You can find Hill Farmstead on tap in Chester I believe and Heady Topper nearby (check their website for distro). Stop at Curtis' BBQ off 91 (exit 4) in Putney or in Chester. Take the drive to the top of Mt. Ascutney (exit 8 off 91) for some of the best views in the state.
I'd take 495 to 2 to 91; stop at the People's Pint just before entering VT, and you can still hit the above mentioned places.
