Anyone try the Caterpillar? I had a draft pour yesterday, I thought it was a good first attempt, a little sharp/vinegary though. Very similar to some of the sours that Lost Rhino has been putting out for a few years.

I haven't tried it yet. Got a bottle Saturday at their party. I'm mostly a stout and Hops fan though. Do these beers age well? Or better to drink it now?
Sorry I didn't answer your question though. I'll let you know when I drink it.

Some beers like this age well, but they generally get more sour and sharp with time. I'm not really expecting this one to get better with age, but I don't think it will go bad either.

Triple can release coming up on 12/1. All 3 are collabs done when the breweries were in town for ECC a couple weekends ago. LOVE the simple artwork! No info release on beer names yet but I did pull some wording from social media posts when each was being brewed. Appears all are IPAs/DIPAs.

No word yet on what, if anything, is releasing this week for Black Friday.

Charles Town Fermentory Collab - "We are integrating both breweries house ale strains, hops and processes to dial up a crushable IPA."

Dancing Gnome Collab - "You bet there will be some damn hops in this"

Foam Brewers Collab - "The group decided to split the malt bill from our house malt and Foam’s supplier Peterson Quality Malt out of Vermont. To further integrate this collab we will be doing 50/50 split of our Triple Crossing house yeast and Foam Brewers House yeast. This DIPA will be aggressively hopped with Citra and Galaxy to round it out."

The Guilded One DIPA - Mandarina Bavaria and El Dorado. Notes of soft orange marshmallow and candied orange. No Limit on Crowlers

Guilded One will NOT be released today. Post from the brewery below. Battle Creek is not a bad consolation prize though. Love that beer!

The brewery announced that Guilded One will not be released at all. It was not up to their QC standards.

Details of this Friday's (Dec 1st) can release....
    ____________________________
Charles Towne Fermentory IPA - First collab we will be releasing this Friday is a DDH 6% IPA we brewed with our friend Adam from Charles Towne Fermentory. Adam brought up his house ale yeast when visiting for East Coast Covenant and we blended that with our house strain for this IPA. The collab was aggressively hopped with Citra and El Dorado and one of the highest per bbl on an IPA we have done. Notes of bright peach, oranges and guava.
We are shooting for 250 cases at $16 per 4 pack (1 case limit)

Dancing Gnome DIPA - Second collab we will be releasing is a 8% DIPA we brewed with our friends from Dancing Gnome Beer in Pittsburgh. We met these dudes on our trip up to Pittsburgh earlier this year for the Hop Culture Juicy Brews festival and decided to forge a collab on their latest trip to RVA for ECC. This beer has copious amounts of Columbus, Galaxy, and Mosaic. Super fresh notes of grapefruit of passionfruit.
We are shooting for 125 cases at $17.50 per 4 pack (1 case limit)

Foam Brewers DIPA - The third collab we will be releasing is a 8% DIPA with our friends at Foam Brewers. We went back and forth on process and ingredients and this beer will show that. The group decided to split the malt bill from our house malt and Foam’s supplier Peterson Quality Malt out of Vermont. To further integrate this collab we will be doing 50/50 split of our Triple Crossing house yeast and Foam Brewers House yeast. This DIPA was aggressively hopped with Citra and Galaxy to round it out. Notes of soft pillowy peach and candied orange gummy rings.
We are shooting for 250 cases at $17.50 per 4 pack (1 case limit)

Went up at about 3 and the Dancing Gnome was sold out. I was mostly interested in the CTF collab since I like beers in that abv range, but after trying all on draft, I left with none. The Dancing Gnome was definitely the best, I would have bought a 4-pk if it wasn't sold out. The Foam was good but nothing spectacular. The CTF was actually pretty bad. It smelled like farts to me and while it didn't taste "off", it wasn't very good either. It has a kind of harsh hop burn and combined with the fart smell, it was a rare TCB miss IMO.

Cracked a CTF from this comment. Did not pick up farts like I get when I drive by the water treatment plant each morning but was more abrasive than most of TBC's brew. Still pretty good but nothing that stood out like many of theirs I have had. Have not had anything else from Charles Towne but I would guess their beer are more aggressive than the NE trend that has his VA.

The other people I was thought pretty much the same as you. I had Sungazer on tap at Mekong last week and thought it was really good.

I live in Charleston and think that charles townes beers are a bit more harsh initially when compared to veil or TCB. The mouth feel is generally lighter too. They are a bit more in line with trillium which makes sense. However the beers lose that harshness a week or two out. Had their new IPA on draft last night after having it a couple of weeks ago and it was a very different beer (much better).

Got around to trying the 3rd earlier today and while all 3 were good I would rank them Foam > Gnome > CTF fresh. Looking forward to tasting them again as time passes.
    To see if that changes.

Paste Magazine has named Triple Crossing 1 of the Top 10 Best Breweries of 2017. In good company and in no particular order....
    - Brew Gentleman - Braddock, PA
    - Triple Crossing - Richmond, VA
Brew Gentlemen may have placed #1 in our 176 DIPA blind tasting in September, but no brewery made such a loud, undeniable statement as Richmond, VA’s Triple Crossing when their two entries BOTH scored in the top 5. That’s the kind of absurd achievement that almost never happens in these competitions, but it speaks to just how confidently and flawlessly Triple Crossing has approached the modern IPA. Their output in this field is nigh unparalleled. What’s ironic is that although Richmond has become a craft beer hotspot in the last couple of years thanks to other breweries such as The Answer and especially The Veil, many of the beer tourists coming to town still seem to be overlooking Triple Crossing, which is an absolutely criminal omission to make. You could look up and down the coast without finding another DIPA as impossibly smooth, luxurious and juicy as Triple Crossing’s Interstellar Burst in particular. All in all, they still remain a brewery we haven’t sampled all that often, but we’re hoping to see many more Triple Crossing representatives in the 2018 blind tasting schedule.
    - Two Roads - Stratford, CT
    - WeldWerks Brewing - Greeley, CO
    - Jackie O'sPub & Brewery - Athens, OH
    - Perennial Artisan Ales - St. Louis, MO
    - Societe - San Diego, CA
    - J. Wakefield Brewing - Miami, FL
    - Austin Beer Garden Brewing - Austin, TX
    - Tired Hands - Ardmore, PA

Falcon Smash IPA 7% (121 cases) - Our flagship IPA. Dank hop character from double dry hop of Falconer's Flight, Centennial and Columbus. Fermented with house yeast strain.

Clever Girl IPA 6% (80 cases) - This IPA is a sharp counterpoint to the resin, dank citrus of Falcon Smash. It's an incredibly light bodied soft and dry American IPA with impressions of tropical citrus and dark berry floral aromas. Hopped generously with Citra and Mosaic hops.
