Can / Bottle release tomorrow, 1/18, Noon @ Fulton... (Delta bottles available at BOTH locations)
    __________________________________________
Falcon Heavy 8% DIPA - Our fully bolstered DIPA variant of Falcon Smash IPA makes its way back into the rotation. Featuring the ever present and foundational Falconer’s Flight hop blend, alongside two of the newer school super fruit forward varietals – Citra, and the ultra-expressive Vic Secret. We taste pineapple, tangerine sweet orange citrus, and fully realized deep apricots tones.
We are shooting for 225 cases at $17.50 per 4 pack (1 case limit)

DDH Clever Girl 6% IPA - Mosaic and Citra take a front seat on this one with pungent notes of citrus rind, orange and mango due in large part to the massive second dry hop.
We are shooting for 150 cases at $16.50 per 4 pack (1 case limit)

Delta - Citra Dry Hopped Wild Ale with Whole Peaches
A blend of red wine oak barrel fermented golden sour beer that we then conditioned on whole fruit peach quarters and waited long enough to ensure a secondary fermentation. After several more months this beer was dry hopped with Citra to further boost the overall fruit profile of this mixed culture golden sour beer. Intensely tropical fruit forward impressions of peach, grapefruit and orange citrus oil culminating into a refreshingly dry rounded austere tart oak character.
We will have bottles for $14.50 and draft available at both breweries

Can releases this Friday, 2/1, @ Noon (Fulton)
    ________________________________________
Shimmer 5% Pilsner - After what feels like (but definitely isn’t) more than enough lager fermentations to learn something, we’re beginning to feel like this beer is ready to live its best life out in the wild. 100% German Pils malt with an intentional blend of the most noble hop varietals that are all pulled together by a yeast strain that we have become quite fond of. This strain combines to create a floral, lemon hay like sweet straw profile while staying zesty dry yet still soft bodied lager. We’re quite proud to release what we’ve envisioned as our house Pilsner during what is and likely always will be a constant state of refinement and evolution in everything we do.
We are shooting for 100 cases at $12 per 4 pack.

Dawn Chorus 8% DIPA makes its return featuring Citra, Vic Secret and Galaxy to double down on its layers of fruit forward hop and yeast derived character. Bright citrusy melon, pineapple, and a slightly dank undercurrent culminate into our signature super soft DIPA body and feel.
We are shooting for 200 cases at $17.50 per 4 pack (1 case limit).

Sight Lines 6% IPA - Our West Coast influenced IPA takes shape in this 6% ABV slightly hazy pale yellow pour. Both intentionally and intensively kettle and dry hopped at various points in its life with Simcoe, Citra and Chinook. This beer delivers citrus, tangerine, melon, and a firmly crisp pine like finish. Born out of the need for something dryer and less yeast focused than usual, we’re excited to offer a hoppy beer that branches off into its own territory.
    $14 per 4 pack.

Can release for Friday, 2/8, @ Fulton..
    ___________________________________

    Nectar and Knife
8% DIPA. Our first ever DIPA hopped and dry hopped extensively with Simcoe and her daughter Mosaic for that signature bright, grapefruit pulpy zest softness with zero bitterness.
    $17.00 per 4 pack (1 case limit).

Simcoe Triangles - The latest entry into the triangles series continues with Simcoe. Created out of the need for us to continually explore the nuances of certain hop varietals, the triangles series allows us to thoughtfully experiment with an often singular set of variables that we force ourselves to live within. Always the same grist and always our house ale yeast culture. Through this self-induced restriction, we find Simcoe opening up with the bright pink grapefruit pulpy melon citrus, culminating into our considerably soft finish. 6% ABV
    $14 per 4 pack.

Looks like I will have a couple hours to kill in RVA this Saturday. For anyone who has been to a TC Can Jam before I have a couple questions.
Is it "business as usual" with the addition of Can Jam? As in do they keep the typical taps open, cook pizza, sell TC cans etc.? Or do they basically shut down Fulton and it's only people drinking the guest cans with maybe a few taps open?

And what have the crowds been like? I would likely be there either right when it starts, or around 3:30PM. Not trying to grab anything in particular so not worried about missing anything.

    Thanks!

I haven't been to a can jam, so maybe someone else will chime in to add, but I will say when I went to Covenant fest they had their regular TC taps on and were cooking pizza.

@oldn00b I have never been to CJ either but from what I recall in their posts from past jams it will be business as usually in Fulton with the addition of the guest cans. I definitely can confirm any TC cans from Friday's release will be carried over and available at both locations on Saturday for to-go.

Speaking of Friday's, 2/15, release they have announced 2 of the 3. I'll post on here once the 3rd is announced. The list of guest beers/cans for CanJam will be announced Friday so be on the lookout for that as well.

There's also a forecast of snow/sleet coming through central and northern VA this weekend so watch out for weather on that as well. Higher chances on Saturday in the Richmond area but from the most recent forecast I saw, RVA is on the edge of the wintry weather so likely a rain/sleet/snow mix (mostly rain). Most of the sleet/snow is staying closer to NOVA as of now but temps will still be in the mid 30s. if it drops closer to freezing then Richmond could be more than just slush so keep an eye out.

Thank you - very helpful! I might actually be able to get there right at open which I wasn't expecting so it'll be cool to be able to basically have pick of whatever comes down.

I went to the first Can Jam at TC last year. It was on a Sunday instead of Saturday this year. Also the cans were $6 last year and they are $7 this year. It ran as smooth as you could hope. They ran out of some cans real quickly and most within the first couple of hours. But I was able to try at least seven different beers with my group of three. And we actually shared with another couple to try a few more. Some were higher ABV and a smaller sample was perfect.

Thank you for the input - this sounds awesome and exactly what I was hoping for. I wasn't pumped on the idea of trying to crush 16oz of high abv stout but sharing a few cans with a friend to try a couple new things works for me. I'm looking forward to it!

Figured they would not last all day but that’s a quick sell out even with them brining in twice as much as before. Glad to hear turnout must have been good considering the weather in the morning but sucks they announce it as an all day event and it lasts only a couple hours.

EDIT: just reading through comments on fb and as usual the people who showed up early said the event ran great while those that showed up at opening or after we’re upset.

So this was my first time going to Can Jam and the timing just worked out that I got there 30 minutes before open. There were maybe 25 people in front of me but within 10 minutes there were another 30 at least behind me. The line snaked under the awning to allow as many to be covered as possible but went down the sidewalk into the lot in the rain/sleet. By open, I estimate at least 100 people in line. The line was still into the lot when I left around 2PM so there were obviously people who waited in line and got no guest cans.

They did as good of a job as could be expected. They ID'd everyone under the awning before open. They could have sold tickets to folks in line (Veil does that) but it moved as quickly as you could expect. Pizza service was lightning fast. The bar staff seemed overwhelmed/understaffed but they were obviously working hard.

The way to do this, from what I saw, is to come with a small group of friends. Get there 15-45 minutes before open, then grab a spot at one of the big tables. I saw folks line up 12 cans and have their own share. I felt silly there alone with 3 cans for a bit (two people who were meeting me came later - 1 just bailed at the sight of the line and the other just hung out with me and had pizza and some TC pours). But the people around us were all too friendly and we shared some so I got to try more things than I expected and got to try the two cans I wanted to try most.
