Hi All, have I missed something with this? I know the ratings are high, but some of the recent trades seems a little crazy for a Triple IPA. Anyone know if the limits are that low?

    I thought I heard the limits were 2 p/p...

The fact that it hasn't been for sale in almost a year and bottle count is low may have something to do with it

Must be 1000 bottles or so. 2 per person, 400 tickets total for the sale today, plus however many for the dinner tonight.

I assume now that we have "evidence" that people went home with 10 bottles, that this will trade reasonably now?

What evidence do you speak of?

There's been a couple photos of people's hauls on FB.

either they are showing five people's allotments , perhaps went to the evening party too or they purposely gamed the system depriving people in later sessions of the triple sunshine. The allotment was two per, announced as two and sold as two per.

    I was being somewhat tongue-in-cheek.

No one was deprived of Triple Sunshine, it lasted until the closing of the market.
If you did the market and the party with a +1 then you left with 8 bottles.
Someone won an auction and left the party with a case that cost them over $300 (with all that money going to our local ambulance service)

good to hear that Lawsons looked after everyone. The party plus afternoon was the best I could think of. thanks for the confirmation.

It has a lot to do with it being the "flavor of the day". Is it a great beer? Sure. But people are certainly trying to maximize their returns given how relatively more difficult to acquire Lawson's has become. I recall a time not so long ago when my fridge would be full of Lawson's. Grant it I never had to trade for it thanks to a buddy of mine who used to attend all of the market releases. Trade value will even wear off some, but so will freshness/quality as it's the case with all IPAs. I understand the "hype" to a degree, but I am unwilling to break the bank for an IPA no matter how good it is

I saw that Warren had bottles of it on the shelf yesterday! If so that's crazy. I just got one from MBCP which seems a little more fair, still a little much, but I need to try to see whether this is worth it.

It's not just the aging thing though, it's also the fact that IPAs take about a month to brew and can be and generally are cranked out repeatedly. Whereas a lambic/wild or BA stout will take anywhere from a year to several years and are often one-offs or at most come out once a year. I get that TS is difficult to get and all, but still, the style and equal quality is readily attainable. Is anyone claiming that Triple Sunshine blows Heady or SOS or any number of other, easily available IPAs out of the water?

I just won't give up crazy stuff to get any IPA, period. Especially with so many good ones out there.

Same deal as Dinner. If it's trading more than a very good DIPA/TIPA should, it just isn't worth it when you can trade for Heady or SOS.

You could just as well replace "IPA" with "beer" in that sentence.

TBH, it makes a lot more sense to me for their to be a trading frenzy around an IPA, which has a fairly limited shelf life, vs other styles which will be just as good in a month.

Nobody was "deprived" of Triple Sunshine...that is why Warren Store got a surprise delivery of it this week.

You really think giving up a MBCP for a Triple Sunshine is a bit much? Maybe I'm interpreting your post incorrectly, I'd say you got pretty lucky.

No apologies for the confusion, I am saying that is one of the only fair deals I received, and no I don't think I got lucky because I had multiple people, up until yesterday offering the same deal, its not always about winning the trade, its about both people being happy. VR+ or MW+, those offers are a little much IMO. The Triple has less of a shelf life than those beers, so you can look at either in two ways, the person that wants Triple needs to get it ASAP so will give up more, or the person that is trading Triple wants to get it out before too long, like everything here it's about supply/demand. I just thought some of those trades were a little much.
