It looks like this one might be their best yet. It includes two of their year round beers, Perpetual IPA and Sunshine Pils (newly added year round - used to be the Summer Hop Cycle Release) as well as the newly added Hop Cycle Release for Summer, Crimson Pistil Hibiscus IPA, and their Scratch Series, Raspberry Gose. I have had the first two and love them both. Funny enough, I have talked to 2 different people in the last week and one of them insisted their favorite beer was the Crimson Pistil (when it was a scratch) and the other (a Tröegs employee) insisted her's was the Raspberry Gose. Should be good!

I haven't had Nimble Giant, but apparently that was their best beer yet. It's coming out around June, so I'm excited for that as well.

The Raspberry Gose was delicious-- picked up a couple of sixers when they bottled it as a scratch beer for sale at the brewery last year. Will be looking for this pack.

Sounds great! Interesting move on Sunshine Pils, I hope that doesn't eventually lead to the beer's demise.

My assumption is that it now gives them a "session ale" in their lineup depending on if they consider Solid Sender one. If they do, maybe they had a big push by customers to make it year round beer.

I think I know where you are going with that but the Pils market is pretty competitive now and I am not so sure that throwing one out there that has been known for strictly spring/summer is necessarily the solution. Don't get me wrong I love that beer but would I be inclined to grab it year round when I have many solid Pils choices? Not so sure. But just like SN Summerfest I will jump on it when I see it because I know it is seasonal.

I agree. Love sunshine pils and having year round is great. Makes me remember though when noble pils when year round then faded. That was my favorite sam seasonal

"Sunshine Pils (newly added year round)"

Hmm, that is an interesting development. Normally I would just say "Woo-Hoo!" but I am wondering if there is enough demand for this beer year round?

I participate weekly in the New Beer Sunday thread and last summer I had a 'series' I labeled as the "Summer of Pilsner". Recently I did the same with the label of "Winter of Pilsners". There is a surprising amount of new Pilsners (new to me beers) out there. Lots of competition for a beer style which is not particularly popular with the beer geek (BA) crowd.

Just within the context of the local (SEPA) market, Sunshine Pils competes with beers like Stoudts Pils. Victory Prima Pils, Sly Fox Pikeland Pils, Neshaminy Creek Trauger Pils, Double Nickel Pilsner (and I am sure I am forgetting some).

I sure hope that year-round Sunshine Pils is a success since I really like that beer. I used to buy a 12-pack of cans every spring when it first came out.

    Cheers!

Yes, tons of great Pilsners out there. This is honestly my favorite though, probably because the brewery is like 15 miles away from me.

I too live in SEPA, not quite as close to the brewery as you.

While I am too a fan of Sunshine Pils, I am also a fan of other US craft brewed Pilsners including PA and NJ brewed Pilsners.

I do indeed hope that this business decision by Troegs 'works'.

    Cheers!
