Nugget Nectar is now of legal drinking age!

Tröegs has posted some teasers on social media that looks like this year's Nugget Nectar release will use the old school label art (which in my opinion was vastly superior to the recent version).

Set to be released on January 6th, although in years past it's normally been a staggered rollout to the various states that Tröegs distributes to.

It has been several years since I have had this beer. I am looking forward to revisiting it if I can find it in my area.

I'm all for nostalgia. That original logo & beer was fire. Maybe they can capture some of that old magic they had at their OG location.

I believe Virginia is the furthest South:

I took their brewery tour with my dad and a friend from undergrad in late December and had the chance to try unfinished Nugget Nectar from the tank, and it blew all three of us away. My dad hates IPAs and generally doesn't like hoppy beer, but it was really great even without an extra dry hop or much carbonation. I'd like to pick some up in addition to whatever more "hype" beers I acquire while in PA, since it really seemed to be an exceptional beer to me.

I don't know if it's something anyone here looks forward to each year, but I'd think the finished beer would tick a lot of my own personal boxes.

Yeah, I thought they pulled out of the Carolinas a few years ago. I am in VA for work fairly often, I will have to be on the lookout for it next time I'm up that way.

This is a beer that I really want to like but somehow my taste buds seem to find boring. Not sure why but each year I give it another try and the results are the same. I've also heard of batch-to-batch variability. Maybe I always grab cans from the wrong batches? I will give it another shot, just like with the Double NN that comes out around the same time.

I have experienced the "batch-to-batch" variability in the past. I would wait for some BA to post information on a good batch and I would write that information down and if I could find beers with the same dates I would buy a six-pack.

At some point (5 years ago?) I just stopped playing 'Russian Roulette' and no longer purchased Nugget Nectar. Too many other good beers out there where I don't have to be concerned: will this six-pack be a good batch?

    Cheers!

Would love to hit this again. It's been years for me.

NN has been exciting to me only because it's been an awesome trading asset. I think I've traded for it with various BAs all around the country the last couple of years.

Do you purchase it solely for trading purposes?

    Cheers!

I have definitely done so. Those who want NN tend to want it in quantity so if anyone says they want it I would then buy some to ship.

But in any case I always sample some each year just in case.

Double Nugget Nectar last year was really good. Didn't care so much for the regular, though.

I'll always buy this if it comes to Northeastern Mass. Never had a "bad" batch, but I only get it once a year.

Any specific reason(s) why you didn't care for the regular Nugget Nectar?

    Cheers!

    @JackHorzempa

I personally never thought it was that good, nothing to do with variations or anything like that. I've had it a few times at Troeg's fresh on tap, even, with the same opinion (although yeah, it's better at the source).

It's also hard when it was coming out around the same time as Hop JuJu in my area (not the same style, I know...), with both being big imperial hoppy beers being released around Jan/Feb. I was just spoiled by the super expressive JuJu.

I'm also looking much more forward to Double NN . . .

Based on Troegs answers to people on social media, sounds like a few weeks away
