Releases this Monday 3/28. Much like Troegenator, the label just says "Oak Aged", nothing about bourbon. I'll take their word on troegenator even though I get very little in the way of bourbon notes, but still wondering if mouflan was just virgin oak or if it is in fact bourbon barrels. No word on pricing/limits/availability yet, hoping it's similar to troegenator and not to last year's mouflan release.

Just out of curiosity, where did you see the ABV? Don't see it anywhere on the FB post, but I don't use most other social media so if it's been posted elsewhere I haven't seen it.

I had the '14 Troegenator (which was, IIRC, quite a bit after the draft scratch version) and that was a very delicious, boozy, well balanced beer. Was disappointed when this year's release wasn't what I remembered, though it's still a reasonably good beer in its own right. Hoping mouflan this year is even half as good as last year, which is not only one of my favorite troegs releases ever, but quite possibly one of my favorite beers I've had. Upsetting to only have a pair left which I'm holding onto to see how it ages further. Was delicious at 1 year

I googled oak aged Mouflan and found this image. I deleted my post because I thought it was unfair to of me to question Troegs' barrel usage based on nothing. Besides, 11.7 is still quite a jump from the 9.6 of regular Mouflan. Sounds like a wet barrel to me.

I only bought one last year because of the price, but I agree. Phenomenal beer, one of the best I've had. I hope I can get to Troegs for some of this batch.

Last year's release was top notch - but a bit pricey. So if this one's price is in line with the BA Troegenator, but as good as last year's batch, then that would be awesome

I don't think it is unfair. Personally, I think they would want to let the consumer know whether or not it was bourbon/whiskey barrels or just regular oak barrels. For BA 'Nator they did confirm that whiskey barrels were used, but never whether it was a blend of whiskey and oak barrels, or 100% whiskey barrels.
My bet is that this one, too, was aged in whiskey barrels.

It was pretty dam pricey last year. I also agree with a previous post that it might be one of my favorite beers. I taste tasted (not blind)with 2 other friends, last years BAFM, parabola, and BCBW, and we all preferred the mouflan. There were definitely no losers in that group though.

Given the price differential between buying new oak barrels and used wine/whiskey barrels I'd guess it was not new oak. A lot of breweries using the term "oak aged" actually use oak chips and age the beer on those chips which give the oak flavor just as effectively and at much lower cost.

Last years was the best BA Barleywine I've ever had, easily over BCBBW. Hope I can make it up there to grab some more this year!

Last year it was $12 a 375ml bottle. No discount for 4 pack.

Heard last year's was tremendous, hoping to get one in trade down the line if this year's reviews are good. $12 a bit pricey, but YOLO is what the kid's say, i believe.

It was easily worth the price last year, if it's anywhere close to last year, would be glad to pay the same price...
