will be in the area of Hershey Troegs in the next few days and remember hearing that they were releasing Splinter Gold there a while back for on-site consumption only. I poked around online and couldn't find any details on if this ever happened or is still available.

Does anyone know what the scoop is on the newer batch of splinter gold? Onsite only? Still there?

Anything else worth while at Hershey Troegs to check out or in that area?

    thanks and cheers!

Highly recommend Pizza Boy. Permasmile and Intangible are both fantastic sours.

Just further confirmation, Splinter Gold has been sold out for a while now for on-site. And you really should make a trip to Pizza Boy. Well worth it.

Second Pizza Boy. Their stuff is great, and he's got a boatload of other good stuff on draft.

    thanks guys...great recommendations.

any thoughts on stuff closer to lancaster? i'll be with little kids (2.5 and 3 months) and pizza boy looks to be more of an hour from where we'll be centralized. i can probably sell a half hour side trip, but an hour in the car both ways might be a hard sell for a beer detour.

Hunger & Thirst is a good place - 24 taps, good food, and a really good BA owns the place. Also, Spring House Taproom could be worth a stop depending on their tap list at the time.

I would think most of those places are pretty kid-friendly. Hunger and Thirst, The Fridge and Spring House are probably my favorites, plus the first two sell bottles to go as well. If you can swing it, Pizza Boy is definitely worth it, but it's a solid hour+ from Lancaster City so that might be tough with little ones.

Also, Splinter Brown appears to be next on the horizon, but I doubt they'll announce the release before it actually happens.

Agreed. Cosmicevan, send me a BM and I will hook you up with the owner of Hunger, he's a great guy and awesome BA who would certainly welcome you guys with open arms.

And I completely agree with Jason, Spring House is a must.
