I've never seen this before and randomly grabbed a 6-pack. Really impressed with the balance.
This will be my go-to beer of the fall.

terrific beer. I had a chance to try some when I was working in MD about a month ago, glad to see it will be distributed locally now. Will definitely be a go to while it lasts

I'm already working on my third 6-pack since it's been out. Thought it'd be perfect for first football Sunday.

    Yeah...I like it.

I had it on tap at the brewery the day it was released, and ended up taking a 6 pack home. It's a great new addition to the Troegs lineup. I wish it wasn't going to be seasonal.

It's the best beer I've had from Troegs

Great hoppy aroma, but not enough actual hop flavor

One of the few beers I think is better from the bottle, because the hop flavor isn't allowed to dissipate as much this way.

I really like Hop Knife as a cheaper IPA alternative, and it's excellent to mix with a maltier IPA, to create balance.

Where are you? I know it's at DeCicco's in Brewster. Had a growler and was informed that they now have 6ers.

Oops. Just saw you were in Albany area. Oh well.

Completely agree with this, but still pretty damn tasty!

Seemed to blow through my area too, I only had a sixer... but I also haven't really actively looked for more though

Really enjoying this beer. Nice work Troegs. Rustico in Ballston had it on cask on Saturday, not sure if any would be left. While it was good, I preferred the bottled better.

Yeah- I am really liking this, too.

I'm getting a Hop Back vibe on the finish, which is probably some combination of yeast/type of hops/technique, but at the same time it's both more vibrant and drier. Anybody else feeling that way?

Not getting that per se, but I've been howling that this is a beautiful resinous Mosaic bomb. Until I looked up the recipe on the Troegs site. No Mosaic to be found.

That said, I'm waiting with baited breath for the Blizzard of Hops IPA due out in November....

I remember a few years back, Troegs did not make a publicly consumed IPA. I'm so glad they've come around...

Perpetual is no slouch at all...

Yeah- I've been meaning to get Perpetual since they started canning it, but I did enjoy it a ways back.

My impression of Hop Knife is that it has a very enjoyable balance of hops to malt; a bit more hoppy vs. malty but still sort of balanced. This balance aspect reminds me of Nugget Nectar; by no means does Hop Knife taste like Nugget Nectar but has the similarity of balance.

Michael (@TongoRad) it has been a while since I have drunk a Troegs HopBack but my memory was that HopBack had a balance aspect like I discussed above. Maybe this is the attribute that is resonating with you?

    Cheers!

FYI: NYC, Hop Knife is now at WF Chelsea. First time I saw it there. They also had OC Overgrown which I've been dying to try.

Nope- it's a specific flavor. At first it just seemed 'familiar', and then after one or two more I made the connection. I can't say I've done any research beyond that, though- it's just a sensation I got.
