Just found a sparse amount of this in Ohio of all places. I Thought for certain it was old stock as I've never seen it out this prior to January, not to mention finding it on New Years Eve in a state over. The best by was 4-22-20 so not last years. Crazy that this beer just dropped without a peep on BA. Oh how times have changed.

I saw a few posted on WBAYDN thread and had the same reaction. Now, yeah, thinking I'd like to find some.

Wowoweewow! Quick check on their IG looks like they dropped it in central PA yesterday...didn’t it used to hit like mid-February? Looking forward to picking some up as usual

I knew it was out early and checked a couple places today with no luck. So it made it out to Ohio before NEPA? Killing me Troegs.

According to that date, it was canned on 12/24/19. That's crazy it dropped that fresh in Ohio.

I think they did have an issue with Double Blizzard being dropped prior to when it was supposed to, so maybe this also happened with NN?

I did just go to their Instagram page and it was supposed to drop in Central PA on 12/30. In other years, I believe other states than got it a week or 2 later.

And they had it on tap at the brewery even before that, and I know that because my friend shared a pic drinking
    some.

I will give it a shot this year as I always do but I do find this beer to be inconsistent (never falls in the dislike category for me, but it can lean maltier or hoppier).

Ha ha yeah. What I find ironic is people will argue against this but yet will accept that beers like Celebration fluctuate over the years and its flavor profile can change. NN in my experience has been quite different from draft to bottle to can to batches. Again for my palate never bad by any means but a noticeable difference.

FWIW I am of the opinion it is a batch to batch variation issue. If batch x was both kegged and packaged (bottle, can) I think those beers would taste equally good (or equally bad) IMO.
And I agree with you here. I only purchased one 6-pack last year and that beer (batch) basically had zero hop aroma. Troegs is priced pretty high (12+ bucks at my local beer retailers) so obtaining a beer that tastes like no hops were added for aroma is a disappointment, especially considering the higher price point. But those beers did not have a bad flavor to it, just a lack of hop flavor/aroma.

    Cheers!

While celebration does change is quite minor to not noticeable to most. NN can swing from holy shit amazing to really dull and boring.

At the price point I stopped hoping to get the “right” batch and do not buy it anymore.

    Enjoy

Always look forward to NN. It's the quintessential "Last years was better than this years" beer.

I don’t think I’ve bought any for the past few years. Bone Head Red from Fat Head’s and Uncle Rusty from Columbus Brewing are local to me, and in my opinion, better.
However, the threads that focus on the aroma and taste of various batches and packaging formats provide endless entertainment.

Great beer but it's ~$15 for a six pack here, not worth the price.

Already? Years ago, this was the beer that indicated that winter was finally about to end and that spring was around the corner. I saw it on an endcap and was so eager to grab a six-pack as this wasn't quite a seasonal and didn't quite time with the holiday offerings or the spring ales and Hefeweizens that came to categorize April, in my books.

There wasn't any feeling that I've ever had in my 14+ years of rating and reviewing beers on here quite like what I had when I popped the cap off of one of these in March and took that first sip. The hop intensity was so wondrous and flavorful that the whole room smelled like it if I left the bottle on the counter once I poured the contents out.

Then Troegs moved from Harrisburg to Hershey and nothing was ever the same. Sure, there was a boom and a shift in this industry from cans to bottles and tastes changed in correlation to my palate. Every year, this was less and less memorable to the point where I picked this up out of pure nostalgia for days of yesteryear. Seeing this come out right after the new year has this on a level with Sam Adams in the sense that it's a perpetrator of seasonal creep in an attempt to stay relevant. When I crack open my first one later this winter, I will hope that's not the case but will probably end up disappointed. Maybe I need to get a can of this and crack it open wishing that the end result will be like that of days gone past in an age of oversaturation...

Here is my take. Every year I buy a sixtel keg of NN. A few years ago soon after the move to Hershey, I distincly remember buying my keg of NN at my distributor around the end of January, maybe even first week of February but it was as soon as they received them in stock. Took it home and noticed the kegging date of end of December. So Troegs had been sitting on this beer for over a month.....not something that is ideal for a fresh hoppy beer. I also remember talking to my beer guy and he noticed the same thing and said he would talk to the sales rep about it saying if they brew it, then release it rather than sitting on it.

Anyway, flash forward, My point being is I think Troegs has been brewing the first batches of NN in December for years and years now, probably since the move, so this years earlier release is not uncommon anymore. But I do agree with you @JerzDevl2000 years and years ago when they were in Harrisburg, NN was definitely brewed and released later. So I guess we just chalk this up to change.

PS: I know we discuss this every year, but for me NN has not been the same beer it was from back in the Harrisburg days.......just saying.

Amazing beer. The design is appalling. I miss the KISS/Maiden Squeeze the hop design.

Yes, the truth can be quite entertaining  But some other posters do bring up a great point about the move from Harrisburg to Hershey and when batches are now brewed vs when they are released.

Having my first bottle from the 6-pack. I am willing to chalk it up to palate shift, but this just doesn't do it for me anymore. The phrase, blandly bitter keeps coming to mind.

Still lots of love for Troegs. Troegenator is my go to doppelbock, really looking forward to Nimble Giant, and hoping hoping hoping HOPING Flying Mouflan is packaged again.
