There is something weird about Troegs and Nugget Nectar.

Maybe it's the amber thing, could it be a combination of hops and their specific malt that make for a tricky marriage? You brew is it a difficult chemical balance of mismatched malt and hops? When it's great it great, but it can be a meh beer too.

Nah, just don't have one on Sunday . Other days don't matter - I'm gonna have a few myself Friday and Saturday .

Honestly here I like the way it tastes. But the ascetics are off, there is no nose at all, in can or in a glass. There is little head even with a vigorous pour, at the end there's zilch. The Amber throws me a bit, I can appreciate the hops, and the malts nicely support it, but as I've tasted before there's a really short window here, then it's a bit too malty. I'm not a Brewer I don't understand the science, but the amber thing and hoppy is a short kiss. I'm iffy on ambers in the first place because the Carmel malts for the most part is a miss. Super fresh yes, with a bit of age no.

 

I just read my review from last year, I drank it in March, and I thought it was amazing. This year's (can best by 5/11) is a total mess, no fruitiness whatsoever, straight malt with plenty of unbalanced hop bitterness. There even seems like there is some tartness as well. I can honestly say I'm disappointed, and glad I only bought a single.
Here is my review (from last year) for those that are interested.

 

The only thing weird about Nugget Nectar is that there seem to be a group of people who buy it with the expressed intent of saying that it is "off" or "not the same as last year" or that "they got a bad batch".

Looks suspiciously like confirmation bias to me.

If you're SO terribly concerned that Troegs is conspiring to release random batches of bad Nugget Nectar, you need to stop complaining about it and stop buying it.

Nobody cares if you say you've got a bad batch because your word means next to nothing. Just because you say something is so doesn't make it so and you're not cool or in-the-know because you continuously say things like this. At the very least it's irritating. At the most, it's bordering on libelous.

TL/DNR: Get over yourselves

 

I'd love to try this on tap, but that will never happen here, big beers places got maybe 3-4 cases mixed bottles and cans. It'll stick for a while unless a buyers looking specifically for it, and at that I had to ask because it's not centered up front on easily visible on an aisle, it's sitting on a shelf in multiple locations.

 

Unfortunately, I have this batch at home and beg to differ (along with a few others who have had this batch). Clearly it is the person and not the beer.

 

That is why I included my review from last year, for dimwits like you. Is it a different person from last year?

 

Ad hominem arguments are the best. When you use them, it means you've lost the argument.

 

I love how these Troegs homers are refusing to believe a batch of their beloved beer can be off. The mistake their making is, I was hoping as much as them or even more for it not to be true. And I was truly disappointed as I mentioned in my post.

Also I absolutely am thrilled to have engaged the self-proclaimed dick, two Fridays in a row!

 

We could make it a standing date, if you like.

 

Maybe your taste changed? I had the new scratch double IPA last night and I'll be the first to say it sucked. 5/11/18 cans of Nugget Nectar? Nah.
