I know some time ago this beer was voted on by the public to be re-brewed. I'd also heard this one may see bottles, albeit for sale at the brewery only. Anyone have any word on when this may come to fruition?
Kegs have been popping up in a few local places but thats it for now. I had one at Al's yesterday, tastes pretty much the same as last time.
Had it last Saturday at Troegs event at Teresa's. I think the Troegs people said it is available in bottles t the brewery, but I can't remember for sure.
Still in the fermenter. Saw a pic of it there being tasted. Soon........definitely not at the tasting room as I was there yesterday afternoon.
supposedly the same guys that brewed the first batch at the brewery last year (younger day at capones) are not the same ones that brewed this batch, but same recipe? (at least i think i remember brad telling me that) ... has anyone had both and can say with confidence that they are similar?
i dunno about that... another batch i guess. but it showed up somewhere during Philly Beer Week this year.
I can't recall. They don't put prices on their beer menus or anywhere else for that matter...and on your checks, they write the price of the beer and then just to tally marks next to the price for every beer you get that cost that much. I don't recall, but it was probably anywhere from $5-$7 for a small snifter.
yes, they are very similar if you want to be picky, I think this new batch has a much more bold focus on hops. so much so that it feels gritty or chalky. kinda like when you get the last pour from a firkin that was dry-hopped with pellets and you can see the hop particulate or "green dust" settle in your glass. then again, maybe that chalky feel is also from the mango? i dont know
Well then, Brad made a lot of money on a 75 dollar keg. Brad and I collaborated on the homebrew. We also had say in the Tröegs receipe. The first batch was brewed by Tim the brewer , Al 2 other guys and myself. I made a decision on Tröegs brew day to change some sugar to honey. 3 kegs came out of the brewery from the first batch. I did not distribute my keg to capones. I don't agree with that. My keg was enjoyed at home with friends and neighbors. The new batch may be different congrats Tröegs. But it was inspired by a homebrew coloboration. As for bottles kegs at Tröegs who knows anymore. They don't seem to be very transparent. But I guess they don't need to be, it would just be nice. Scrums
According to one of the Brewer's at Troeg's Scratch 98 will be bottled but they are waiting on label approval, something about mango in the name? Brad or Stakem, I'm curious if the Pizza Boy Hop Test 1 -Mango was also based off the original homebrew recipe as well?
Since it is just a "scratch" beer, and would wear the scratch label, why approval needed? Unless .........
