That is a good hour except for the fact they won't have any more revenues for 4-7 days now(other than BFT kegs). Unfortunately i am too far from them to ever get there before the dreaded "WE ARE SOLD OUT" post on instagram 45 minutes after the initial post.

Oh I know. I’ve commented on that myself. My point was more about how quickly he can sell out while charging that much per crowler. I’m with you on not being able to get there and I’m only 30 minutes away. Last summer I happened to be close when they announced and got some. Otherwise haven’t had his stuff since they blew up.

he could probably charge $22 a crowler and be sold out in 60 mins... every release is gone in 40-80 mins it seems... nuts!

way to go alex! wish i could say i've been able to continue to support troon but haven't had the time to make the trip since summer 2017.. such great beer

Yea, but i think he's going ok...don't forget he's selling the kegs as well to BFT (although at way lower marigns), and if he only does 4 releases a month thats ~25k and if its 6, that's ~38k and he's got a pretty slim operation.

I'm not saying that the business isn't successful but you still have to account for paying the three employees, the cost of the ingredients, paying back any loans, NJ taxes, rent, etc

Fingers crossed we'll see expansion, though

Multiple weeks of nothing and then..... Kettle sour.

Can't be bothered with all the Troon hassle for a style that is meh to me.

But with 500 plus cans hopefully many who like "beer that doesn't taste like beer" will walk away happy today.

Sold out in an hour like every other release. Just saw it now on IG. I wonder if Troon basically sells their beer to the same 100-200 people every week. Always a 5 PM weeknight release so a very limited number of people can get there on time.

Well, speaking as someone who is local enough to Troon to have only missed 3 releases since opening, yes I do believe it's mostly the same people. But not necessarily only a few hundred. I think there's maybe 2 to 3 times as many people who rotate to releases based on what they can swing. And a small handful of crazy people like myself who are able to make all releases if they choose.

Unfortunately I don't believe there's a better way for them right now. And weekend releases wouldn't remedy much. Sell out would still be just as fast. The only thing that allows releases to last more than an hour nowadays is when Instagram's push notifications don't work properly. And/or it's a style that's less favored.

Yeah I’m not saying there’s a better way (other than making limits lower) to make it last, just saying what I think is the case week in and week out. Other than trading/selling, it reaches a very limited number of people the way it’s released. I live 30 minutes away but between avoiding lines and having family things going on every day after work, I’m resigned to just following the fun on IG.

Managed to try Damnation's Bringer tonight and pick up the release.

DB is so fucking good, and I am usually not a big fan of lactose in my IPAs. Glad they went light with it.

Nice! As usual I didn’t see the release until after it was sold out. Some funny angry comments and responses on IG also as usual.

Damnation was phenomenal and I do not like lactose beers.

I happened to be ready to wrap up work at right about the time they posted the Instagram. Made it there in less than a half-hour and there was no one there. So I got my two cans and tried everything else on tap.

Not that I don’t believe you but I’m wondering how they sold out in less than an hour, yet you were there about half way between and no one was there.

He probably got there after the insta-line finished. It's common for people to hang around the bar for a potential week day release, especially if they update their beermenu with a new troon tap

Apparently a lot of road closures delayed people. I secured a parking spot by the brewery, walked up to the counter, and bought my beer. Then I drove to the valet and went inside.
There was a constant stream of cars in and out; I must have hit a sweet spot. but it seemed more staggered than the other time I arrived 40 mins or so into the selling period. That prior time, it was as if the whole world ascended on that spot at the same time.

Matt was saying that about 15 minutes before he opened up there was already a - line- of like 50 people. Not just in the tavern, but lined up already. So the initial rush probably slammed them and it becomes a more steady stream after that.

I was secretly hoping for a drop this weekend since I'm going to the Brick Farm Tavern finally but oh well guess I'll just try it on tap.

They had four different ones on tap and all were amazing

Hopefully this isn't the last stout of 'stout season' we see

Regardless of count they always seem to sell out in the exact same amount of time of just over an hour. Kinda odd.
