should be 2pp of ea especially the ipa since there were what only 120 crowlers.. i get it though it's better to sell it super quick.. Alex can get back to brewing more beer instead of spending time selling it haha

yeah hopefully all parties on the farm can have a sit down and plan for future things to make things happen as smooth as possible... with that said... see treehouse.. they thought they planned properly, built a massive spot.. still fucking no room to park yadda yadda yadda

the best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry

A few months back, I had overheard one of the bartenders at Brick Farm telling another customer how Alex had drafted up a 5 year business plan for the brewery, etc. I would assume if that's the case, expansion plans would be included.

Regardless, I haven't been up there in over a month. I need to get back - both for the beers and the AWESOME food at the Tavern. Worth every penny if you ask me.

Looks like all crowlers sold out. Happy for Alex. Yet totally bummed that this shitty line fuckery is the new reality at my local brewery.

Yes, was it true, a purported line of 50-100 people at Troon? Which assumes people parked in town and walked up? I actually am having a hard time thinking what was posted is true but it certainly kept me away and I am a frequent customer of Troon. Did this really happen?

Oh it happened. Prob more than 100. People were parked on grass along side of the brewery. Along the driveways. Nuts. Overheard a lot of people mention theyd never been. Some didnt know they were crowlers. Milk cartons of crowlers being carried out.

Things are always crazy the first time a quality brewer does any kind of canning. There were long lines at Conclave and Twin Elephant the first time, as well. If Troon begins selling crowlers regularly, then some of the novelty will wear off. Troon does have the unique problem of having a small parking area located on a country road and it will never be able to accommodate big crowds. Big crowds would also ruin the ambiance of the tavern. I'm glad I was there last Sunday when the brewery was closed but the restaurant had lots of wonderful beer.

I do not recall any lines at Twin when they first canned, all 3 times I've been able to walk in on a Friday evening to get a can with no wait.

This will be random and disjointed.

So I'll start with the space. It's small, like insanely small. It's basically a shed with a barn out back. This space won't last much longer, I'd bet on that. That aside it had charm, it was cozy and non pretentious. I felt like I was getting to know Alex before I met the guy.

I guess next I'll talk about Alex. Dude is genuine, down to earth and humble. Wish all brewers were like this. He was in real awe of what happened today. In conversation, which he was never too busy to make, he was shocked to learn I drove over and hour to buy his beer.

I can't comment on the beer yet but the regular following leads me to believe it's gonna be special.

I guess overall I'll leave it at he probably should get out of this game, he isn't in a position to handle what will come of this. If he kept it at growler fills he's still won me over and I'll make a regular weekly trip to support the guy. He should save for that bigger space before going down any new roads, in my opinion.

Somewhat true if there was repetition in product; however, Alex’s priorities lie in creation/improvisation/ experimentation. Nevertheless, wouldn’t even matter if the recipe is reused and repeated with an established brewer, as long as the name changes one will witness inflated WANT/FOMO

In contrast, Twin Elephant has a staple in Lil' Shimmy Ye. Can that more often, and one can attest: “some of the novelty will wear off.” Perhaps what @bryantc3 is already experiencing.

Pretty sure all 3 cans at twin elephant were released on Saturdays. I know for sure 2 of 3 were because I was there for first lol shimmy ye and diamonds and pearls releases. And they were definitely Saturday not Friday.

While it may not have been the very first Twin Elephant can release, I was astounded on a Saturday to see a line that snaked around the building, crossed River Road, and ended almost at the Bottle King. I agree with you that it's not like that any more.

Your point is well taken. Every time I've been to Troon there's been different, and highly original beers. That said, there still may be some novelty factor today. Is there really that great a difference between a 32 oz. growler and a 32 oz. crowler that would account for the long line to continue?

Did that actually happen? I've had all their releases, never waited in line, and I know they're can releases were very small batches...

And yeah, typed the wrong day. Saturday.

No not much different and it is scary to think that the uninitiated think that this was 'canning'. Crowlers that are CO2 purged should be treated that same as growlers that are CO2 purged. Drink within a week, two weeks max - I hope the people that visited Troon for the first time realize that and consume the beer accordingly. These are not cans people...

Wanted to thank Alex for opening early and offering bottled water because of the heat prior to opening.

I don't feel bad for anyone that bought them and don't realize that. I feel bad for someone that may trade for one and not realize that. Sounds like the haul for trade guys were out in full force today.
