Long story short, it's impossible to make everyone happy so Alex will do what he thinks is best for the brewery, himself, and his vision.

No vision is set in stone. I'd be willing to bet like any smart business customer feedback is taken into consideration when implementing change. No business knows what people like/dislike unless people say something.

Agreed, but from what we've seen, even just on this board, people are spilt on his current approach and no matter what he does going forward, people will complain that their favorite local spot is ruined. It's inevitable.

And before the "current approach," no one complained about anything. Go figure.

Tried pull the plug today. Probably the most interesting IPA I've had. Thinking about opening the stout tonight. I don't mind the glass growler fill approach and I'll be back to try more and chat with Alex.

Any rumblings for this weekend? Is a Friday line at opening with the hopes of crowlers gonna be a new thing?

    From Troon's website:

We are very excited to announce that effective immediately we will be transitioning from filling glass growlers to providing prepackaged growlers in convenient and recyclable 32oz cans. Here is what is available this weekend, 7/28- 7/30:

Nothingness Is Not A Curse- 300 cans

Nothingness Is Not a Curse, 7.1%- IPA hopped with Mosaic lupulin powder and Citra

    Bumf- 300 cans

Bumf, 6.4%- American Blonde/ Extra Pale Ale hybrid hopped entirely with Motueka

Both beers are on draft at Brick Farm Tavern as well

I can understand selling only prepackaged growlers when it is busy and there is a line, but to abandon growlers all together is rather surprising.

Feeling bad for those who'll never get a chance to cop those lovely Troon growlers. I was at Other Half yesterday getting fills; that glass was snappin necks.

I'm surprised that they updated their website and not IG. I haven't seen any talk about a release or speculation on what they would be releasing if anybody on any of the NJ groups on Facebook. I wonder if A) Alex will have limits on crowlers and B) will it last tomorrow.

For local folks, I'm not sure if it's every Thursday or not, but Brick Farm did a Randall of Mental Kaleidoscope through coffee beans and cinnamon last night. Hopefully they are doing Randalls on a weekly basis now.

Anyone can comment on the line? I am working from home this afternoon so a stop by Troon is not in the offing...

I have said this before, so those that have heard it before, I am sorry for being the old man repeating himself.

Craft Brewers are like our favorite indie bands were back when there this thing called rock n roll. We love them and we love being a fan from the beginning. We love that we are part of this small group that loved a ban no one ever heard of. We would wear t-shirts that would illicit odd looks. We would go to tiny record stores and hunt down their records because they would never be carried at the mall. We would go to shows at odd places (some of which were filled with odd smells) where there are only 100 people. We were part of something.

Then they get so popular that "the outside world" starts to take notice. The shows get bigger, the songs start to get played on regular radio, their records and t-shirts are in the mall stores and (OH NO) they get signed to a major label. Next thing you know they are playing the Beacon Theater, or Madison Square Garden. The rooms are bigger and don't smell so funny but they are filled with people that don't love this band like we do.

At that point, you can either stand in the back with your arms crossed and talk about how they used to be great or you can enjoy the music and the fact that they are now successful. (You can also admit that "Tim" and "Pleased to Meet Me" are better albums than "Hootenany" and "Let It Be")

So it is time to admit that they are no longer your favorite brewer no one knew about. Enjoy the great beer and welcome the interlopers into your club.

    Cheers

good analogy... but I don't think The Replacements ever quite reached the level of mainstream success you described... though they should have! I think they were a few years before their time...

I'm sure it's not as bad as last Friday since this wasn't really announced via social media. Then again it's craft beer in 2017 and the parking lot could be jam packed.

No they never did. But I was referring to more than just the 'mats. On the plus side, a live Replacements album that was recorded at Maxwell's is coming out this fall.

4:46. 10 people in line. Night and day from last week. The non-announcement announcement worked.

    This is really... really shitty.

I used to love that I could go up there on a saturday and get great beer filled for the weekend without a hassle. Now I can't get Troon beers at all because I work Friday and it will be gone by saturday. With Brotherton going to shit there are really no easy to get great beers for me anymore.
