I'd like to chime and say that I read and enjoyed it too. You've done a nice job writing thorough reviews of our NJ breweries around these parts.

Anyone stop by tonight that can share what's available for growlers?

One of the only, "cheery," sounding beer names from Troon. Makes me think of happy hula girls on some 1950's kitschy item rather than scary clowns, corpses, or avian scavengers. Lol...

Hit both the Referend and Troon yesterday. Troon was awesome! The owner was a really welcoming dude, and all of the beers I had at the Tavern were top notch, with the recent DIPA and sweet stout being the standouts. Got fills of both the DIPA and the coconut milk stout and cracked both with friends later that night. The coconut stout was incredible! Cannot wait to see what Troon does next!

Also, that Brick Farm Tavern was awesome as well. I didn't have any food but I'm planning to go back. The menu looked incredible, as did the cocktail menu.

Just left Troon and the Tavern. The empanadas are delish. First time there (I know...)Funny Bone just kicked after we got a flight but Alex was bringing another sixtel over so on tap at the Tavern there is:

    Obligate Scavenger
    Patriarchy
    Migratory Tentshow
    Buried Without Your Funny Bone
    Sweating Through Your Clown Paint

On Tap at Troon for growler fills:
    Obligate Scavenger
    Patriarchy
    Sweating Through Your Coconut Bra

The weather promotes some exploring today. Enjoy!

Those empanadas are the best. Glad you liked. And don't worry about it being your first time... mine was last week.

Beertoro, I too took your empanadas recommendation from the article and they were INCREDIBLE! The wife and I went back today to try out some cocktails at the tavern. They have some serious talent there.

Enjoy the hell out of my Sweating Through Your Coconut Bra right now. Everything that Ive had has been awesome but he's really killing these stouts. Between this and the coffe cinnamon Clown Paint... A+

Got to hit Troon again yesterday. Coconut and Scavenger were awesome...and got to have the empanadas at the Tavern with what I guess was the last of the Funny Bone, which was tasting amazing.

I'm really torn on wanting to hype the shit out what this dude is doing right now or just be like shhhhh, nothing to see, Troon sucks, don't go so that it remains as pleasant an experience as its been the last two times!

Thanks for your blog post, it made me want empanadas and I was not disappointed. I had dinner at Brick Farm before, although it was the tasting menu for my wife's birthday, so Friday was the first time eating at the bar. We ended up getting the gnocchi instead of the burger, although the couple next to us go the burger and I have to get it next time!

enjoy it while it stays a bit under the radar, i've been hearing more and more chatter out and about now so i have a feeling it'll be a busy spring/summer at Troon

Of course I've been thinking the same thing, but...there are two things working in our favor as far as being able to keep grabbing growlers easily. 1. It's a bit off the beaten path. 2. No tasting room to hang out in.
Between this place and Conclave being about 20-25 minutes from me, my growlers having been getting a workout!

Popped over and grabbed some Sweating though your Coconut Bra last night. Great variation of sweet stout's Troon's been pumping out. Not overly coconut or artificial tasting like many coconut beers. Maybe because the coconut was toasted? Either way, the roasty and nutty coconut flavor went great with the coco notes. Delicious!

As of last night, same list in the tap room/growlers as last weekend.

    Obligate Scavenger
    Patriarchy
    Sweating though your Coconut Bra

That said, not sure what's on in the bar for drinking on premises. Or if he plans on putting anything new on today for fills.
