depends on your definition of "easy." or rather "worth it"
despite what it says under my avatar, I have never traded. However, based on what i have read under "WTT" and "ISO" for Troon, the requests are kinda nuts.

Troon makes good beer, alex is a super cool dude, but a lot of these trades are 2:1 by volume for hype breweries like trillium, OH, tired hands, etc. perhaps easy, but not necessarily "worth it"

Going by volume is a silly metric. The equivalent volume to a 4pack in Troon is $24 at minimum, commonly $28. Sure, a lot of breweries can climb that high, not many do for most of their beers.

Personally if I trade any of my extras (sometimes I get there before a lower limit, or have a friend with me) it is always $4$. Maybe I am the exception, but I know a few others who do the same. I usually get 3 cans for one crowler.

Although, I am frequently offered 4 packs of OH, HVB, etc for one crowler.

and as always, plenty to drink at the Tavern

I've been to Troon for a can release, but haven't had the chance to visit Brick Farm yet. Hoping to get there some upcoming afternoon when there's nice weather and was wondering (1) whether there's outdoor seating and (2) whether (behaved) dogs would be welcome there.

I'm assuming they either don't have the appropriate space or inclination for pets based on what I know about the place but maybe I'm wrong -- figured I would ask!

Any general tips for BFT (times to go, things in particular to order) are more than welcome too.

creeping through instagram shows that they do have some outside seats.

def going to assume a "hard no" on dogs though, while it's not a coat/tie mandatory place, it's fairly upscale.

    Outdoor seating is a yes

    Dogs are a no

Big fan of their burger with the added bacon jam. You can add an egg to it, but I find it to be too messy.

Get the egg, it is a little messy.but just eat it over top of the fries. They will soak up any mess.

Thanks, that's about what I expected but figured it was worth asking!

Definitely agree with you, both the bacon jam and the egg are a must. As well as the empenadas as an app.

Forgot about the rotating empanadas. Might be a little much if you go with the burger also unless you're sharing with someone

I'm heading down to Brick Farm Tavern from NYC for lunch on Saturday and hoping to try some Troon for the first time. I've already built in the expectation that I won't be coinciding with any crowler release but what are some popular food items at the restaurant besides the burger and empanadas?

Does BFT do flights? I see there are three Troons on tap according to their menu from April 27 (Weed Joke, Neither Pine Nor Apple: Discuss, and Corpsair)

They do small pours of all the beers on draft (Troon or otherwise)

Currently on draft from Troon are Human Recycling, Insidious Irony and Fleeting Fulfilment. That may change between now and Saturday

Thanks for the tip! Where did you see the latest draft offerings?

Are the small pours like 4oz taster sizes or like 8oz?

4oz taster pours and I looked on Untappd for the recent activity at Brick Farm Tavern for an idea of what's currently pouring there.

The bar is open all afternoon at the Tavern today, right? I know the restaurant closes between lunch and dinner, so I just wanted to confirm.

Maybe a few cans left still. Nothing says summer pool-side crusher like an Imperial Milk Porter

Frightened Rabbit are a great band as well

Currently 5 Troon beers on draft at Brick Farm today...Insidious Irony, I Am Leviathan, Human Recycling, Fleeting Fulfilment and Frightened Rabbit.

Most I think I've see on at one time. If you've missed any of the last 5 crowler releases then there's no excuse not to swing by today and try them.

That's a great selection. Frightened Rabbit and I Am Leviathan are killer. Tried my first Leviathan can last night and it was fantastic, and I usually don't like coffee stouts.

Side-note: Saw Alex at the TH show last night. Pretty cool. Fingers crossed we see a TH/Troon collab at some point.
