The Tired Hands and Troon aesthetic mesh very well. It may only be a matter of time. What I would really like to see is a Troon/Kane/Carton three way coffee collabo...

Gimmicks: Wouldn’t be surprised if discussions were already in place amongst TH, Omnipollo, Troon, and a boat load of adjuncts -

I actually kinda hope Troon steers clear of Tired Hands... Collab with Kane, Carton, Magnify, Brix, Cape May, etc.. first.

If a collaboration means more Troon out in the wild then great. Otherwise I can do without it Most collaborations are a disappointment

That'd be nice. Maybe those sours are inoculated with some cultivated Referend bugs!

Referend + Troon + Kelly Green + Amanda and Sean (The Seed) got together a year ago: some serious blending and mashing must have taken place. Hoping to hear more on this front per

I selfishly hope Alex has some gameplan for some sort of expansion, clearly there;s way more demand for his beer than they can produce given their space. I've only been there twice, once was back when they still did growler fills, the other was when we had friends in from out of town just after they had changed their policy and I didn't know it but we ended up grabbing lunch and beers at Brick Farm.

Hard for me to get there as we are a solid 35 min drive and its too hard to justify the drive not knowing what they have available at brickfarm plus the difficulty of having a 14 month old makes it a little hard to hang out too long at fairly upscale restaurants...would be nice if they had a tasting room of their own+ more space to brew.

Everything I've had from Troon up until now has been "decent and interesting," but wow I Am Leviathan blew me away when I had it at BFT for lunch today. Blows other hyped milk stouts I've had recently out of the water (Impermanence, Double Shot), and I can't think of many comparable non-BA milk stouts I've had that I prefer. "Liquid latte" is the perfect descriptor; lots of prominent flavors blended together smoothly with a super creamy feel to it.

This should last longer than an hour given limits and availability. Happy hunting

I think it was an hour and a half. Such a strange brewery business model! He’s open for like 11/2 to 2 hrs a week total to the public!

well, i mean...he's only open when he has beer to provide. Since his "tasting" room is more or less the restaurant on premise, so that makes sense.

the downsides of having a relatively small brewhouse vs. the demand of your beer. Also the fact that he has to can/crowler each of those, no canning lines here lol.

Yeah that was my point. I mean, Brick Farm isn’t really “his” tasting room, he sells them kegs like any other restaurant or bar. “His” place is not really open other than however long it takes to sell crowlers for that week. Like I said, strange model. Works for him if he doesn’t want the hassle of servers, glassware, etc.
Personally, I’m fascinated with the insta announcements, comments, and fast sold out update. I haven’t got his beer since probably the second time the beer was sold in crowlers. Too bad since I like his beer but not worth the hassle for me. But like I said, it’s working for him.

he made a post last year when they switched from glass to crowlers. I don't think he ever had an actual tasting room or could even have a tasting room - he just doesn't have the space for it. so original it was just tasters (i think) and growler fills. He got a little popular and it meant that he was filling growlers all day Friday-Sunday, which restricted his time to actually brew and maintain the brewery. So the compromise was crowlering allowed for more time to actually brew and increase output.

    edit:
i would doubt that this is his preferred model, but he's definitely making the best of it. looking forward to see where Troon has a brewery heads over the next few years.

Right, he was not zoned (or whatever) for a tasting room. I went there for just about every release when it was growlers. Great stuff.

So timing: I am 25-35 mins away. If I leave for Troon upon Instagram posting, is there a chance I get shut out?
