True English IPA or RIS?

    Yes, I do. Hopping rates were crazily high, especially in the first half of the century. I've seen single brews of Truman with more than two tons of hops in them. And they were Mild ales.

    The Terry Foster Pale Ale book from the early 90s featured a recipe recreation that he credited to the Durden Park Beer Circle as being for the "Original Hogson's IPA" (I'm afraid I don't recall the date given at this moment). The Town Hall beer does sound very similar in terms of o.g. (1.070) and bittering (1 addition, off the charts), so they may have gone to the same source.

    Hodgson's brewing records from the relevant period don't exist, so that recipe could only be guesswork.
