Truly Astounding Beer Tales...

While visiting Seattle over April fools day a year or two ago I stopped in Bottlworks. Looked up at their tap list sign and saw a 20 year old Cantillon kriek. Thought hmm sounds interesting but passed ha not realizing how rare/significant that was at the time. Instead I bought some IPA I'm sure. My tastes have expanded since then unfortunately I can't go back in time.

Several years ago wife and I were living in NYC and decided to go to a relatively small beer and meatball festival on the west side, I believe in Chelsea. Most of the beers were solid, but nothing spectacular. Then I round a corner and see a CBS tap handle; mind you, this was a white whale for me. Actually asked the person pouring if that was really what it was because I was in such disbelief. It instantly became, and still is, my favorite beer of all time.

 

I turned 21 on big grey warship tied to a pier in Saudi Arabia.

Turns out there is an extreme lack of good beer in that country...

It was as awesome as it sounds.

 

All is forgiven.. Kimmich let me have 4 four packs the other day. Several varieties on hand. Broken Spoke, etc. They should have a "Variety" 4 pack of one of each. An old guy in front of me bought 182 dollars worth of beer. He was like Dangerfield in Caddyshack.."Gimmee six of these, gimmee 12 of those."
