My wife's family will be renting a house in the Catalina Foothills area of Tucson from Thursday to Monday over the New Years weekend. I've been checking out a few different beer places (breweries/brewpubs/restaurants). What are some good places in the Tucson area that I should hit up? Tucson Hop Shop looks like a must-go. Thanks!
If by Catalina Foothills you mean the Oro Valley area, the closest thing to you would be the Whole Foods on Oracle & Ina, which usually has a good taplist. Hop Shop is a must visit, and Tap & Bottle is too. From Tap & Bottle, you can walk to a bunch of good places on Fourth Ave/downtown: Ermanos (great food here), Public Brewhouse is just behind Ermanos and is underrated imo, Pueblo Vida brewing in downtown. Borderlands and Crooked Tooth are both within 2 blocks of T&B as well. I work at Dragoon, which is a short Uber ride from downtown. 1912 Brewing is also just down the road from our taproom. If you don't make it to our brewery, you'll find our beer on tap and in cans all around town. For food, there's too many great options to mention here, although many of the breweries here will have food trucks around. I live really close to Hop Shop, BM me if you want to meet up for a beer.
Thanks for the info - we're actually in the Sabino Canyon area so my geography may be a bit off. We don't have a firm schedule at this point but if we get to Hop Shop or even Dragoon (which I'd like to hit as well), I'll try to BM you. Thanks again.
In that case, AZ Pizza and Bear Canyon Pizza are closer to you and usually have good taps. Never been to either but have heard good things. AZ Beer House will also be on your side of town and has a bigger selection.
