Last Duvel I got was from Salvation Army for a dollar. I have broken three of them and two of my second favorite Bruery ones over the years. Always sad, no matter how much or little you can find them for.

Next time you make a big beer purchase see if you can get them to gift you a branded tulip. In past that has yielded me a few nice glasses. Never hurts to ask. Pretty sure acetone and a bit of soft scrubby action takes off any logo.

Yup, sometimes they have a marketing/advertising budget. Plus, depending on the various laws, maybe the distributors can give them to the store, so store ain't really out anything.

I have a high appreciation for good glassware and have enjoyed some in the past. Perhaps when my inner sanctum is no longer invaded by obstreperous cats or rambunctious young grandchildren I will get some of those long stemmed beauties but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Big fan of the Sauvin Beer Glass personally.

Man, no offense, but that is exactly the glass that would annoy me to no end. Plus, the reason for stems is to limit body heats effect on the beverage. That glass is designed to warm shit up. I like cold things.

Simon Pearce is handblowb lead glass (i.e. crystal) just like Waterford. The designs between the two companies are obviously very different - heavy duty/thick vs thin and refined. But I can certainly understand why someone wouldn’t want to shell out $50-75 for a glass. For me - despite New Years resolutions - I’m still spending between $7-10 a night on beer so I don’t really see it as a big deal.

I got one as a goof. I like pulling it out and seeing people’s reactions. Unfortunately it just doesn’t sit well in the hand and is kinda awkward to hold. Still love having it and use it once every few weeks.

Around here, some of the package stores (bottle shops) get "promotional" glassware and sell it for very reasonable prices. I picked up the big Sam Adams perfect pint style glasses (except they are bigger) for a buck each. Just have to poke around and sometimes ask. Buy enough beer, sometimes they'll give you one. Of course, they don't have a lot of types of glasses to choose from.

Acetone and a bit of a scrub will work for the painted glasses. The Mr. Clean Magic eraser works too, but takes a bit more elbow grease.

Ha - I rescued my Duvel and a bunch of other very nice beer glasses - even a Chimay chalice - from a numb nuts who was going to use them for pistol targets. Thought that is what cans are for?

This. They have several other styles as well, and you can usually find them on the store shelves. I've even found stuff at Dollar Tree (e.g. an Italian cylindrical glass with handle) that looked and felt very well made and quite expensive. What could possibly go wrong?

I could've picked up this tulip for the princely sum of ten bones at Goodwill. I passed. Who needs three gallons of beer anyway?

That's what plastic drinkware is for.

You might find one uinbranded, but if it's not a Duvel glass it will be missing the little etched "D" inside at the bottom, which activates the carbonation and makes Olde English 800 taste like Duvel. Your beer will be highly disappointing in a lesser glass.

Duvel also has a version with just a "D" logo on it

Looks like it is still available at a few stores online if you look around.

There was another thread on this topic in 2013 and nobody came up with a very close replica. One poster claimed that Duvel has legal protection that prevents other companies from making the same exact shape glass.

Nothing really compares to a Duvel glass but I went to Crate & Barrel over the weekend and I was surprised by their decent beer glass selection:

    https://www.crateandbarrel.com/pint-and-half-pint-glasses-with-crown/f49960 (nonic imperial pint)

https://www.crateandbarrel.com/bruges-beer-glass/s648313 (Bruges tulip style glass, kinda similar to Duvel but doesn't flair near the mouth as much)

    https://www.crateandbarrel.com/direction-17-oz.-pilsner-beer-glass/s569143 (pilsner glass)

    https://www.crateandbarrel.com/spie...rIut1uHruuyLA6-c7UUaAokeEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds (spiegelau IPA glass)

They also had that famous Spiegelau IPA glass
