Anyone been lately? How is there inventory? Just making a plan B in case I do not have time to stop in Portland.
My favorite beer store in Maine - Inventory is always solid. If Maine is getting bottles of something, Tully's is usually one of the first. Plus, it's the furthest store south where I can always get/reserve Marshall Wharf cans. Give 'em a call OR send a quick email - They are super responsive and helpful. I reach out with inventory questions before every trip North to Maine.
Was there last week after about an 18 month gap. Both the wife and I thought the inventory, while still outrageous, was somehow less than it had been on our first visit. Maybe it is because we are experienced as craft shoppers now and not everything looks new to us? Whatever the reason, just seemed (totally subjective opinion) somehow reduced a bit. Met the Beer Lady in person - that was cool. It's a must stop when we head up that way regardless - they'd have to cut inventory by at least half before I would consider it otherwise. Tully's half would be double what I can find around home. E-mail or message 'em on FaceBook - they do reply very quickly.
I would agree that they are still the best, but like the above post, inventory seems to be less than it once was.
Glad I stopped. Tully's has a great selection and very easy to get off 95 and stop in. Picked up last 3 Ace Holes, also got a couple Finch's Fascist Pig, 1 BA Siberian night, and a 2011 Pannepot pricey but bit the bullet just because. Had to fight the temptation to buy Prince Tuesday, Prairie ales, and Mikkeller beer geek and geek weasel.
In my personal opinion they're a little pricier than stores in kittery, south berwick, or potland, but they generally have a solid selection.
^This, plus some lag time on certain beers hitting shelves relative to Portland bottle shops. That being said, best store between Portland and the MA north shore hands down.
Thought hard about Prairie. They had the saison and dry hopped pale. It gets distro'd to Mass so I figured I would wait. I was impressed with their import section. Did not spend too much time searching shelves. I did find Pannepot and they had some interesting stuff. Smart phone battery was dead so could not do a quick BA search
