My wife and I will be attending the Tedeschi Trucks Band concert on Aug 25th at the Amphitheatre. We just saw the bad news about Corks/Tops. We'll take the advice there about bottle stores. Our plans aren't set in stone, but we're curious about beer bars and/or restaurants with a decent selection of craft beer. Tripadvisor has been completely useless on all fronts. We're curious about parking at the venue, bars/restaurants nearby, and cheap/clean motels (we don't need a fancy hotel). Not a reply over there after a few days, not that there are many recent posts there. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
The Mellow Mushroom in Tuscaloosa has a pretty good selection of beer. The last time I went I had a Two Hearted Ale and a Great Divide Hercules on tap. They also had a couple of Founders KBS even though the beers stores had already sold out of their allotment. Maybe someone else can help you with the other info your seeking.
not very familiar with the restaurant and motel scene, but the alcove is the best craft beer bar i have been to in tuscaloosa.
As others have posted, Mellow Mushroom and Alcove are both very good. I frequent Alcove quite a bit and they usually keep good (often local) stuff on tap, and keep their bottle selection varied. They also recently began selling bombers which has diversified things alot. Willhagans is another bar in Temerson Square that usually has a good selection as well. I will be going to the concert as well and will help any way I can. Have a good time!
Thanks for the help. Mellow Mushroom is on the list as a fallback, not sure if we'll be in a Pizza mood, but the two that I've been to in Mississippi have always had good selection even considering our former restrictions. I'd found the Alcove - doesn't seem to have any sort of food. Am I mistaken about this? Any appetizers or bar food?
