I will be flying into San Diego in October, staying near shelter sland, and I will have a rental car. I plan on picking up a few beers and flying back to Michigan with them. I am an avid beer shipper, but it seems that it would be easier to just check a bottle shipper as luggage. Is there anyplace near downtown that I could buy a Styrofoam or even cardboard 12 bottle shipper?? Thanks!

Just had this same issue while traveling...to check an empty shipper I had on hand as luggage was going to cost $25(or $35 if I had another piece of checked luggage). But to ship it out to a local Fedex location and pick it up at my convenience cost $15. Go figure.

I didn't think of that, I guess if I can't find one in SD I could ship an empty one then pick it up, fill it and fly it back...

No beer involved, just the 12 bottle shipper box.

Check with a local Postal Annex. They'll have wine shippers in all different count sizes - up to 12 I believe.
