Hey all, I am going to be in the Twin Cities this Friday for a very quick beer run. I am looking to hit the best easily accessible bottle shops there. I am looking for a wide variety in selection and fair pricing on beers such as Surly, Deschutes, Stone, and Odell (basically anything good that is not available in Wisconsin). I may also hit Surly itself if you guys recommend I do so. Thanks in advance, and sorry if this has been asked before.

The answer is Four Firkins, but this really belongs in the Midwest forum.

Four Firkins is both overrated and over priced. Blue Max and France 44 get my vote. If you're on the east side MGM is Woodbury is a good bet

Agree with the Four Firkins comment... however if you're on the east side of the cities Dennis Brothers is the best by far. In fact, it may be the best on any side of the cities.

I'm not sure which part of town you'll be in, but here are a few names and general locations (well, guesses based on vague memory) that may help you narrow things down. All of them carry the brands you mentioned (Surly, Deschutes, Odell, Stone) and should be able to take care of you on that front.

    Ale Jail (St. Paul)
    Zipp's (Metro MPLS)
    Four Firkins (West MPLS)
    France 44 (West MPLS)
    Blue Max (South MPLS)
    South Lyndale Liquors (South/central-ish MPLS)

FYI, Zipp's was having a good sale on all Deschutes' six-packs when I was in there earlier this week. There were also still cans of Wet and SurlyFest in the cooler. I actually grabbed some fresh Odell Mountain Standard while there (saw the Isolation Ale as well).

I'm not positive about this part, but I don't know if simply "stopping by" at Surly is an option. I've never been there, but I don't think they have a taproom or anything, and tours are damn hard to get a spot for (I've had zero success reserving a spot before they fill up; internet vultures I tell ya).

    I hope this helps. Cheers!

OK, so maybe this is the proper forum:confused:

Also, FF is still the answer.

Even if some people think the firkins is overpriced, its such a beautiful shop and all the guys there are friendly and very knowledgeable. Worth a stop. My second pick is Zipps followed by Ale Jail.
